Bavarian Style Wheat Ale
A refreshing, unfiltered wheat beer that showcases the unique, but subtle, fruit and spice character from the classical southern German yeast strain we use. In the spirit of the German purity law, this beer is brewed using only malt, hops, yeast and water. Please enjoy this beer WITHOUT a fruit garnish, as it is brewed specifically to rely its own beautiful balance of flavors.

Draft at the brewery taproom. Pours cloudy yellow with a creamy topping. Extremely basic, even for a hefe. Some lemon, mellow wheat, faint yeasty dough. Light bodied with fine to average carbonation. Tasty enough but very simplistic.

Bottle:   Thick dirty straw, soft sudsy white head, little lacing.   Wheaty nose, faint straw and hay.   Has only a smidgen of banana and clove.   Big wheatiness on the tongue, smooth, moreso American like in that by the time it hits the tongue I am not really getting any clove or banana.   Smooth on the tongue, but missing some of the components for a German Hefe.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate to full.   Feels pretty good, and isn’t overly carbonated.   Finishes with soft straw/hay, somewhat sweet, and very much like an American Wheat.   Better than most American examples, but not quite up to par for being German.   Still enjoyable tho.

Draft at Naked City Brewery in Greenwood. Bright hazy yellow. Grayish foam head. Medicinal, minty wheat. Slight bubblegum sour. Medium body. Not bad, sweet.

Pours a milky golden yellow with HUGE carbonation (it looks like a volcano). Aromas of banana and a strange skunky smell I can't place. Unpleasant aroma. Tastes of burnt banana. Not very nice. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Refrigerated brown bomber poured into a weizen glass. Pours cloudy light orange with small white head. Aroma is light banana, medium body, medium/low carbonation, and some thin small bubble lacing. Taste is rich esthers, banana, grainy, and hints of clove. Hoped for a little more.

Bottle from the best damn beer shop. pours clear yellow with a thin white head. Not much on the nose. Has a bit of clove but it also has an oily texture to it. Finish lingers a bit. Not a particularly good hefe.

Bottle from Sprout’s: Poured a bright glowing yellow liquid with some transparency around the edges of white tint. Created a thick development of foam head which quickly simmered down. Aroma is fruity with banana and peace or apricot and smells authentic to real German hefeweizen style which is surprising since this is a brand new brewing company. Although my first pour of the pint was pleasant and having a nice taste of German yeast with all the traditional flavors, the second pour was pure dead yeast and created a pungent taste of vinegar and citrus acid. Usually with hefeweizens you would want to stir up the yeast at the bottom and pour it into your glass, but with this hef I wish I hadn’t. Must taste much better from the tap as opposed to the bottle. Cheap affordable price but the bottle formula needs some work.

Draft at the brewery. Semi hazy golden pour, with a white head. Very grainy wheat, clove spice, and notes of banana sweetness. Ok, I’m not a big fan of wheats.

on draft at far bar, way too wheaty and spicy. This one was off, but not terribly, in a weird direction
