Sampled from tap at ’Beertemple’ at 9.9% abv. Clear, deep red with a medium large, frothy, beige head. Sweetish, slightly fruity aroma of caramel, red fruits and some strawberry jam. Sweet, malty and a little fruity taste of caramel, strawberry jam and some red fruits, followed by a short, slightly bitter finish. Medium to full body, oily mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Nice!

Tap at the brewery. Pours clear red with a medium, frothy white head, medium retention with good lacing. Aroma is caramel and toast malt with pine and resin hops. Flavor is sweet honey and caramel malt, moderate resin and pine hops and bitterness with a dry finish. Medium and carbonation.

Bottle @ weekly tasting shared by Dutchdrebus. A bit hazy medium to dark red color, average to medium sized off-white head. Aroma is malts, hops, a hint of red fruit and slightly sweaty. Taste malts, hops, again a touch of red fruits, but nicely bitter. You can clearly taste it’s a heavy beer though. Not necessarily a bad thing, but somehow it slightly annoys me with this beer. But then again, it might just be me. Still quite nice.

Bottle @ benzai. Brown, copper colour with a small to medium sized beige head. Smells hops, slightly liquorice. Tastes hoppy, malts. Decent beer. Medium body, soft carbo.

Very deep red with hints of rose in the light. Thin off white head. Sweet caramel and toffee malts on the nose, smells great. Big malty flavours, caramel and brown sugar - toffee and crumbly sweet pie base. Slight floral hop bitterness in the backend providing a little bit of balance but this one is all about the malts. Slightly under carbonated with a medium body - not as dense as I’d anticipated for the style.

Pretty good. Hoppy aroma but not too big the malts still played a major role in aroma of toffee and caramel. Taste is similar not much hops more malt centric with caramel some medium roast and earthiness. Palate is a little thick but overall good brew.

UPDATED: JUL 1, 2015 Bottle. Pours with far too much head, 90% of the first pour, hinting at something amiss. There is just a whiff of funk to this, and it’s a bit thin. Perhaps I got a bad bottle. But the general character underneath is good enough to keep it from being bad, with a decent 10%-ish character. (#5994, 6/27/2015) <<Second bottle, confirmed rating>>
