Liberation IPA Is an Imperial IPA, which means that we took the malt and hop character of a regular IPA and kicked everything up a few notches. Liberation is a malt and hop powerhouse that drinks smooth and hides its strength. Drink this one fresh to preserve all the hoppy goodness.
Hops: Amarillo, Cascade, Columbus
Malt: Pale, Crystal, Wheat

Rich hazy light brown, copper, caramel and bronze body with a luscious three centimetre tall tan head - very nice. Aroma of resin, pine, grapefruit, passionfruit and quite a bit of malt. Full-bodied; Deep rich flavour of hops, malt, alcohol, fruit, caramel and a dense piney and resinous finish. Aftertaste shows a lot of depth, but a noticeable hoppy flavour coupled with a good malt balance, a lot of alcohol and a very resinous, piney hoppiness which shows decently. Overall, a decent Imperial IPA, but perhaps showing too much resinous and piney hops and too much alcohol and bitterness. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Total Wine in Tustin, California on 02-May-2013 for US$5.99 sampled at home in Washington four days before heading out to Southern California again on 02-June-2013.

Cloudy orange pour from bottle. No head. Apricot and sour aroma. Very bitter floral citrus apricot and orange taste. I like it. Maybe a little too bitter.

Cloying caramel maltiness stays with you...for awhile. Kinda sharp alcoholness on the palate. Yeah, alcoholeness is a word.

Hazy orange with a one-finger frothy white head and very nice lace. Sharp grapefruit hop aroma with strong caramel malt underneath. Hops bitterness is strong mostly citrus and pine, offset by a strong caramel sweetness that creates a less-than-optimal balance. Medium to full body, medium carbonation, sticky mouthfeel, and a chaotic malt/hop finish. A clash of titans that doesn’t work for me.

Clear amber color with rich ivory foam. Nice honey, floral, pine sap aromas. Medium body with average co2. Hoppy bitter citrus, pine, floral flavors with a solid pale malt base brew--mildly boozy finish---good.

Bottle shared by beerboxer. Pours reddish copper with a short beige head and a fruity aroma. There is a hearty caramel malt flavor with some serious hop bitterness.

Bottled, from BevMo in Solana Beach. Figured Id give this relatively new brewery a go. Hazy dark amber color with a fat rocky white head. Great appearance. Nose is grapefruit, gingerbread and hops with clove. Flavor leans way malty and overwhelms the hop character. High alcohol kind of masks everything and throws it off balance. A good first go, but it needs some fine tuning.

Bottle. Rich amber beer with a dark cream head. Grapefruit and light pine aroma with light caramel. Grapefruit and pine flavor with light caramel. Medium bodied. Good bitterness. Pine and earth linger with grapefruit.
