2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 BMan1113VR (7380) - Los Angeles, California, USA - NOV 3, 2012On tap. Pours with a hazed golden orange hued body with a lasting foamy just off-white head. Good retention. Aroma shows a lot of caramel malt, noticeable VDKs, herbaceous and citrus hop character. Lasting butterscotch. Flavors are sweet and fruity with a lot of crystal malt like character. Herbal and citrusy hop character. Medium carbonation, fuller body and very sweet.
2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 Gruvmunkey (5) - - APR 21, 2013 does not count
Cloying caramel maltiness stays with you...for awhile. Kinda sharp alcoholness on the palate. Yeah, alcoholeness is a word.

Hazy orange with a one-finger frothy white head and very nice lace. Sharp grapefruit hop aroma with strong caramel malt underneath. Hops bitterness is strong mostly citrus and pine, offset by a strong caramel sweetness that creates a less-than-optimal balance. Medium to full body, medium carbonation, sticky mouthfeel, and a chaotic malt/hop finish. A clash of titans that doesn’t work for me.

Clear amber color with rich ivory foam. Nice honey, floral, pine sap aromas. Medium body with average co2. Hoppy bitter citrus, pine, floral flavors with a solid pale malt base brew--mildly boozy finish---good.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 marcus (5005) - Sacramento, California, USA - MAR 31, 2013

Bottled, from BevMo in Solana Beach. Figured Id give this relatively new brewery a go. Hazy dark amber color with a fat rocky white head. Great appearance. Nose is grapefruit, gingerbread and hops with clove. Flavor leans way malty and overwhelms the hop character. High alcohol kind of masks everything and throws it off balance. A good first go, but it needs some fine tuning.
3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 bb (5888) - Alamo, California, USA - JAN 8, 2013
Bottle. Rich amber beer with a dark cream head. Grapefruit and light pine aroma with light caramel. Grapefruit and pine flavor with light caramel. Medium bodied. Good bitterness. Pine and earth linger with grapefruit.

Piney aroma from the hops Deep copper with an amber tint and a good foam head. Assertive hop flavor with a bit of a metallic note in the back. Some fair, doughy malt undertones and a hint of alcohol. Overall, It’s decent. Nice and hoppy. I’d give this a B- rating.
4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 Ibrew2or3 (5777) - Tempe, Arizona, USA - DEC 16, 2012
22oz bottle pours clear copper with thin gold edges and a near white head of foam that leaves behind some sheet lacing. The aroma offers up lots of various hops with dank earthy hops, bold pine hops and some grapefruit hoppiness. The taste is similar with a moderate degree of dank spicy earthy hops quickly moving toward a firm level of pine and grapefruit hoppy goodness. Around the edges of this experience I get some malts and a touch of biscuit malts and a bit of floral hops. This has lots of various hops coming together in a pleasing harmony for me. Yum.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 mcberko (4056) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - DEC 15, 2012
22 oz. bottle, courtesy of manuchampions (thanks Jon), pours a hazy dark orange with a medium white head. Aroma is rich on piney and resinous hops, and a bit caramel malt backbone, like many others. Flavour is medium-hoppy for a west coast IIPA, with lots of resinous hops, a whopping caramel malt backbone, making the palate quite chewy for a IIPA. Finishes quite astringent and very malty. Fairly well-balanced, but not so complex or with a high drinkability, as with the maltiness gets a bit overbearing. Solid, but unspectacular IIPA.
