Draft at the brewery. Brownish amber pour, with a fizzy off white head. Toffee, sweetness, sugar, notes of raisin and yeast. Not that interesting. Some alcohol, but doesnít feel like 11%. Eehh.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
This is an interesting Quad style ale with soft fruit esters (apricot, nectarine) as opposed to the dark/stone fruit esters usually associated with this style. It pours with a nice off white head with low retention. It pours a moderately clear orange color. Flavor matches the aroma in the ester profile, and finishes clean. Mouth feel is smooth and the alcohol is almost imperceivable, which is brilliant for this high of an ABV .

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
clear red brown pour big tan head. Aroma of malt bomb, raisins, corriander. Tastes planty tomatoes, candi sugar, malt liquor. This is like a trippel with some heavier malting. Way too light on the palate. Booze doesnít hide very well here, though it doesnít quite taste 11%. Okay brew, but really out of style.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
22. Pours a crystal clear slightly rubied medium amber. No head or lace. Sticky sweet nose, lots of palm sugar and unfermented sugars. Sticky thick body, with all the sugars knocking around again. Mild sweet finish.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
22oz bomber pours with a crystal clear copper body that has thin gold edges and supports a nice looking tan head of foam. The aroma offers up sweet malts, booze, plums, dates, Belgian candi sugar, a touch of spics and then a slight bacon meat smokiness. The taste begins smooth and sweet with sweet malts, plums, dates and candi sugar mixed with a subtle bacon like smokiness. To midway this picks up additional notes of booze and some modest cloves to coriander spiciness. Nice quad that is young and a bit rough around the edges. A little cellar time might pull it together and round off the rough parts.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Clear reddish brown with a bit of white head. Aroma is mild and sweet with a tiny bit of solvent and bubble gum. Taste is the same, with some spicy phenols and the boozy character more like a strong golden than a quad $8/22oz

WOW! This beer has everything a Quad need to be. Great job on the use of the Belgium yeast! I would buy this beer again. High ABV so watch yourself.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
650 ml bottle. Pours a hazy dark brown color with a small off-white head that soon recedes to a fine ring. The aroma is very mild with apricots and brown sugar. The taste is mildly fruity with pears and apricots, but its the malt base that really dominates this one. The malts are rather toffee-ish and are loaded with sugars. The palate is full and just a bit oily with light carbonation. Finishes short and unmemorable. Overall: Drinkable, original even, but this one really misses the mark by a wide berth.

2.4 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
On tap at the brewery. Quad fail. It pours a translucent mahogany color where a little head bubbles off to a small collar. It smells too sour for the style right off the bat. The body is OK, about the right viscosity. The taste is disappointing, however - itís sweet, syrup-y, bitter, but something ugly in it I canít quite put my finger on. Itís not as fruity or complex as others Iíve had (so youíre left with nothing but alcoholic bitterness), but I donít really know why. Pass until they get the recipe right.
