A golden/amber beer that showcases bold American hops with the extra flavor dimension of the use of rye malt as 20% of the malt bill. This is a shockingly balanced IPA, in the sense that we include just enough malt character to counter the otherwise intense bitterness typically found in an American IPA, making for an immensely pleasant experience for your palate.
Hops: Amarillo, Cascade, Columbus
Malt: Pale, Rye, Crystal

Pour is a clear copper with a average white head. Aroma is hoppy, spicy and sweet malty. Flavor is a decent dark bready malt with some spicy pine hops to follow. No real huge rye presence but I’m guessing it’s in there. This is more like a overly hopped marzen. Lots of bready malts with a decent hoppy back bone. Not what I was expecting but the combo of the bready malts and spicy hops works well here.

Poured from a can. Burnt orange, hazy with an off-white head. Some lacing. Not much aroma. Bitter rye aftertaste. So-so. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Pours a deep orange with solid fluffy head. Nose shows spicy bread, pine and citrus, like lemon peel. Taste is upfront citrus hops leading to a spicy rye finish. Possibly lacks that big hit of rye finish I was after, but the spot nicely. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Can. Rich, caramelly aroma with hops. Smells more like a DIPA. Slightly hazy amber with beautiful lattice lacing. Initially somewhat tinny. Mouth puckeringly piney with a long finish. Not my favorite.

Can. Big frothy white head. Copper color. Aroma is slightly citrus hops but mostly generic beer smell. Flavor is mighty fine. Lots of citrus hop and the finish is spicy rye. Flavor is a clone of Hop Rod Rye. Nicely done.

Amber color. Other than that I can’t say I taste any rye. Mostly hop bitterness up front and slight caramel malt sweetness to even it out. Finish has a spicy cinnamon or clove like flavor. Also very dry and moisture sucking that makes me not want to keep drinking.

On tap at skylark. Clear amber pour head that stays. Aroma of citra hops peachy slight herbal. Tastes like peaches in syrup, brine. Sweet for an ipa but finishes with a sturdy bitterness.
