A deep dark black IPA with a very thin off white head. In aroma, a smooth floral hops, with woody resinous notes. In mouth, a smooth nutty chocolate, with light floral hops, nice and smooth, medium bodied. Cask Days, Oct. 30 2011.

Aroma fruity with mild funk. Gentle sourness , some dark malt hints, hop character on top. Woody touches.
Appearance dark brown with thinner white top. 3+
Flavor and Palate : Black tea, dark berry , slight tartness with hop character on top. Crisp thirst quencher with substance. Bit one sided but well brewed.

Cask Days 2011, lighter bodied, fresh green hops make this a pretty good black iPA. medium roast, nice combo. Not bad

Pitch black pours. A little bit of licorice along with the roast. A touch of sweetness and a bit of chewy character. Some herbal character. Decent if somewhat atypical. Less US hops than I like.

Cask. Appearance: pitch black, small brown head. Aroma: good initial hop aroma, pines, lemon, good amount of yeast too. Smells great. Flavour: bitter hops, lovely malt. Nice long hop finish. Very nice.

[3977-20110922] Tap. Mild poopy pear earth grain malt aroma. Slightly hazy, dark red body with a medium-lasting creamy off-white head. Mild bitter toffee earth flavour. Medium body. Interesting. (7/3/6/3/14-) 3.3

Draught at "Black Oak Tap Takeover" at Volo. Pours a dark amber-brown with a small diminishing fizzy off-white head. Nice aroma of roasted malt, a good amount of leafy hops and a hint of chocolate. Flavour’s roasty along with lots of leafy hops, a touch of coffee and a nice bitter finish. Average to medium bodied. I don’t care for all Black IPAs but I really like this one, well done.

2011-09-23. Very dark brown body with a small beige head. 3+ Green leafy hop aroma. 6+ Flavour is similar, very green leafy hop character, odd earthy sort of English character, mild grainy malt undertones are distracting. Tea like hops as it warms up. Others really liked it but the flavour combinations are not entirely melding well for my tastes. Average bodied palate. On tap at Black Oak Tap Takeover, Volo
