Cask at Great Lakes Project X night Oct 14, 2010. Deep reddish brown pour with a solid creamy tan head (4-). Aroma moderately sweet - banana, bread dough yeastiness, hints of grass and loam - not really chocolate, mostly light toffee and grain. Taste of cocoa, banana, pear and yeast, mild spiciness with a background of earthy grassiness, no alcohol. Only modestly carbonated, a touch of bitterness in the finish, spends most of its time on the palate feeling slightly roasty and mostly fruity - decent, easy to drink, not a world-beater.

[3423-20101014] Cask. Not much aroma, some light fruity malt grains. Slightly hazy, dark amber body with a medium-lasting foamy off-white head. Grainy light fruity malt continues in the flavour with a long sweet aftertaste. Medium body. Not sure where the banana comes from but the beer itself is OK.

Cask at ’Great Lakes Project X Cask Days Edition’. Pours a murky red-brown with an average size semi-lasting creamy tan head. Aroma of light roasted malt and chocolate. Flavour of chocolate, lightly roasted malt, a hint of banana and some light hops in the finish. Average bodied. Pretty good, well done.

Caskdays at Great Lakes Brewery. The brewer calls this a working man’s dunkel. Its all malts and yeast, including chocolate malts. A good brown, very maty and complex in that regard. medium mouthfeel and tasty for what it is, good to break from bitter beers. Malty aroma, brownish colour, lacey, with white head.
