341 ml bottle. Dark brown with a smooth tan head. Nose is cocoa and coffee with hints of sweet and tart cherry. Creamy body but not overly thick. Thins out rather quickly with fizzy carb. Taste is chocolate and cherry with a dry espresso finish. Simple but works well.

Aroma has chocolate, malt, some coffee and a hint of molasses. Darkest brown, red at the edges, and a small toffee head. Flavour has cherry, subdued roast coffee. Light bodied, with some mild bitter notes. Pretty good. I think I’d like to try this without the cherry.

Thanks to decatursteveo for another one! Thin off-white head over a dark black body.Chocolate malt aroma / cocoa powder. The chocolate is well done, the cherry comes in a s sourness in the finish. Thin bodied. O.K.?

On Tap At C’est What? A deep black pour, nice aroma of roasted malt, and dark chocolate, with a very subtle, but still there, sweet cherry. Flavor is more of a stout, but a well made one. The cherry is there in the aroma, but i can’t really detect it much more anywhere else. All in all though, a nice drinking stout.

Sampled at the Winking Judge Spring Fest 05. Dark brown pour. Nice sweet chocolate notes and just a faint touch of cherry in aroma - very cake like and nice. Mouthfeel was on the lighter side for a stout but certainly adequate. Taste was a well balanced mix of roaster chocolate flavours and a bit of cherry. I thought this made for a very nice combo - well done Black Oak. It got me thinking that we have very few Ontario stouts, so kudos for trying one.

Sampled at C’est What’s Spring 2005 Festival of Small Breweries. Colour is dark ruby-brown. Aroma is chocolate & roast malt, slightly medicinal, oddly a little salty. Body is thinner than I generally like from my stouts. Flavour has a nice roastiness, some tartness from the cherry, and a well bittered finish. Some others at my table were turned off by the cherry, and grumblings of "cough syrup" were heard, but I didn’t mind it. I just wanted a bit more body to heft things up a bit.

Pours unclear dark coffee in color with a light cocoa head. The aroma is my favorite part, strong notes of cherry juice with some chocolate roastiness in the background. You get a bit of the cherry juice, roasted malts, and chocolate on the tongue too, but lighter in body as is for s single sweet stout.
