ILduce (126), Toronto, Ontario, Canada May 25, 2009 341ml bottle from OCB Discovery pack: Brown-amber colour with small beige head. Nose offers malt and nuts. Taste is same with hints of chocolate. Dry. Decent. sinkhole (163), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada May 25, 2009 Pours brown/copper with good white head. Nice tree nut aromas blended with malt yeast. Taste brings though some hops and chocolate tones. Nice balance overall. I look forward to tracking down other Black Oak products. lowg (112), Scarborough, Ontario, Canada May 23, 2009 Six pack from LCBO, pours amber/brown, tan head. Nice roasted malty aroma. Flavour is nutty with roasted malt and a hit a chocolate although it tasted a little burnt at times but I quite liked it. Overall a good beer. Diogène (474), Gatineau, Quebec, Canada May 22, 2009 Bottle. Dark copper with a thick mocha head with great retention and minimal lacing. Aroma is nuts, with roasted malt and a touch of wood. Flavor is maltyer than the aroma with roasted malt, some hops, woodand a slight touch of nuts. Bitter finish. Medium body with a lightly creamy mouthfeel and fizzy carbonation. PaulHegedus (364), Georgetown, Ontario, Canada Mar 13, 2009 Bottle. This pours amber brown with a half inch, off white head with large, disappearing bubbles. There is wood, caramel and a distant nuttiness in the aroma. I taste plenty of roasted nuts, caramel malt giving way to smoke and dryness in a medium finish. BostonFox (25), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Mar 8, 2009 Off the top of my head, I believe this is the best dark beer brewed in Ontario. At least the best I’ve had.
