Black Oak Nut Brown Ale

Poured a clear deep brown color 2 finger tan sticky head Piles out of the glass and that goes to a nice lace. Medium carbonation. Aromas are pronounced.. bready malts, nutty yeast mustiness and a slight dried apricot note. Starts with a nice smack of chewy caramel malt then this balances with the grassy hops as the palate gets an oily feel...the middle is malt and nut pronounced then this fades just as some sweetness is detected and the finish takes over...which is dryish, nutty-fruity and hoppy with a metallic after taste...a very nice brown..nutty-carmel a wisp of chocolate-smoke in the finish with good hop balance...my standard session brown.

Mahogany in colour. Aroma was nutty, caramel malt and mild chocolate. Flavour was of chocolate malt, toasty, nutty, with mild sweetness, carbonation and bitterness. Medium body. Finishes with a smokey chocolate bitterness, slightly dry.

Nut aromas and taste are definitley noticeable. Much more distinct taste than the other main nut brown on the ontario market, definitly worth tracking down to try.

Sweetish baked apple/prune aroma. Clear medium tan, thin head. Strong up front dustiness and light bitterness, thenwood, dry mild astringency. Oddly appealing with its dustiness.

A very surprising brown coloured beer. Roasted nut aromas are dominant, with some herbal notes. Flavors include milk chocolate, marzipan, malt and some very zippy and citrusy hops. Not usually a favorite style of mine, but this one might change that. It’s well worth trying. Thanks Lubiere!

Mildly roasty, chocolatey aroma. Clear brown with off-white head that recedes to cover. Nutty, malty flavour with roasted malts apparent and a pleasant finishing bitterness. Medium body. Bitterness stimulates the tongue nicely though mouthfeel is fairly smooth. Bottle. Thanks jercraigs.

Just catching up some older ratings here. I tried this at the Blue Meaney on cask, and it was apparently dry hopped specifically different for this cask. I have not tried it since (or before) so I cannot compare, but what I did get was a nut brown that actually had a strong nutty flavour to it, which I really enjoyed. Great brown colour, but not much happening in the finish, which was surprising given everything going on in this beer. Still very good though.

Some coffee, mollases and licorice taste and better than it sounds. An interesting taste that cleans the palate. Nice black with white head appearance.
