Six pack from LCBO, pours amber/brown, tan head. Nice roasted malty aroma. Flavour is nutty with roasted malt and a hit a chocolate although it tasted a little burnt at times but I quite liked it. Overall a good beer.

Bottle. Dark copper with a thick mocha head with great retention and minimal lacing. Aroma is nuts, with roasted malt and a touch of wood. Flavor is maltyer than the aroma with roasted malt, some hops, woodand a slight touch of nuts. Bitter finish. Medium body with a lightly creamy mouthfeel and fizzy carbonation.

Off the top of my head, I believe this is the best dark beer brewed in Ontario. At least the best I’ve had.

UPDATED: JAN 5, 2009 341 ml bottle from LCBO Discovery Pack #2. Pours a deep, reddish brown, with little head. Spicy malt aroma. Spice and nut accent a largely malty flavour, with a hint of hops that adds some refreshment. Overall a nice example of a brown ale.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 JesseM (940) - Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario, CANADA - NOV 17, 2008
341mL bottle from my OCB mixed pack from the LCBO. Pours a very nice copper brown with a large tan head. Aroma is great, nice nutty elements complimenting some caramalt, as well as some roastyness, and a hint of smoke. Flavour reflects the aroma perfectly, with some nice body to it. The nuttyness is very apparent, and adds some great dryness to the finish which balances out what would otherwise by somewhat of a caramalt defined beer. Very solid stuff. This brewery consistently makes great stuff and I look forward to more from them hopefully in the near future. I wish this product got better distribution to my area.

Tap at the victory Cafe in Toronto.
Attractive dark brown color. Winey, dark fruit, wood and smoke aroma. Relatively simple malt flavor. Slightly nutty and smoky, but way too think in the mouth. Decent, but lacks complexity.
