Gorgeous looking. Aroma of grapefruity hops and light chocolate roasted malt. Malt roasted into notes of chocolate carry the flavour over a base of lightly bitter citrusy hops. Medium bodied. Good lacing. Mild, long finish. Not bad at all. chainman (104), Ontario, Canada
| 4.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 10/10 | 4/5 | 19/20 | Jul 12, 2007 This one really surprised me. Black Oak is a great brewer, but their Nut Brown is, to say the least, exceptional. Perfectly balanced, with just enough bitterness in the finish. Chocolate notes are pronounced, and the coffee undertones give the impression of drinking a brownie. Alcohol is moderate, and hidden behind a rich tapestry of flavour. Probably the best nut brown in Ontario, certainly the best I’ve had. If you see this, try it. mephisto (1144), Taiwan

Flavour is fairly bitter with a bit of a coffee taste. Carbonation is quite heavy, but finishes clean with a nice bitterness. Overall not a bad casual beer from right nextdoor. 5000 (2409), Hardened Liver, Washington, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Mar 24, 2007 Bottle: Dark copper, moderate frothy off-white head, drops quickly, spotty lacing.   Nose of pasture, earth, wet coffee grounds, and soft bitter chocolate.   Soft roasted malts on the tongue.   Luckily no pasture here.   Body is moderate, but the mouthfeel seems to be nearing the thin side.   Very little hop presense.   I might go so far as to say it seems a bit watered down.   Very pale roasted malt finish, bitter-sweet, with lingering earthiness.   Not as good as I was hoping for.   Thanks Jeremy for the bottle!
