Commercial Description:
This is a darker offering from Black Oak. Rich smooth taste, slightly roasty and chocolaty. It's a bit less hopped, but still has a fantastic balance with the malt.

A very surprising brown coloured beer. Roasted nut aromas are dominant, with some herbal notes. Flavors include milk chocolate, marzipan, malt and some very zippy and citrusy hops. Not usually a favorite style of mine, but this one might change that. It’s well worth trying. Thanks Lubiere!

Poured a clear deep brown color 2 finger tan sticky head Piles out of the glass and that goes to a nice lace. Medium carbonation. Aromas are pronounced.. bready malts, nutty yeast mustiness and a slight dried apricot note. Starts with a nice smack of chewy caramel malt then this balances with the grassy hops as the palate gets an oily feel...the middle is malt and nut pronounced then this fades just as some sweetness is detected and the finish takes over...which is dryish, nutty-fruity and hoppy with a metallic after taste...a very nice brown..nutty-carmel a wisp of chocolate-smoke in the finish with good hop balance...my standard session brown.

Dark redish brown with a long lasting small white head. Toasty, nutty, slightly fruity aroma. Malty with hints of nuts and roasted barley, good balancing bittering hops. Not a bad nut brown.

341 ml bottle. pours brown with a small white head and little carbonation. nice roasty aromas, roasted barley, cchocolate and a tiny smokiness. flavours are similar with hops providing a bitterish finish. very drinkable and could very easily be a good session brown ale. the best brown ale ive had.

Clear light chestnut (a little light) with a thin tiny bubbled light tan head. Suspended flecks. Light carbonation. Roasted/toasted aroma with hints of caramel, cocoa and berries. Medium body. Toasty malts with some light chocolate and mild sweetness. Citric hop overlay. Decent balance, but the hops have an adverse on the malts (to me anyway). They kind of squelch the obviously solid malt backbone underneath. Long malty finish at the end, where the hops subside a bit. A tasty brew, just back off on the citric hops a bit (my preference in a brown ale is to be malt dominant).

Anything involving a squirrel can’t be bad unless it involves your face. Pours a nice, clear dark brown brew with a thumb high mildly foamy head that condenses into a creamier cover. Really messy lacing throughout. Fresh, attentive aromas of bready malts (sweet side), honey, floral notes, weak chocolate, apricot, soft caramel. Tasty stuff - I was a little put off when it was colder. Good bitterness, roasted malts, slight coffee, some nuttiness, slight sourness right before the finish that lingers on along with the malty and bitter aftertaste. The lack of coffee based power is very welcome. Smooth beer... very smooth. I wish this was available in Edmonton.
