3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Crockett (925) - Steelback County, - MAY 30, 2005
Pours deep clear brown with red hues. Medium sized light tan head. Aroma of toasted malts, light nuttiness, and fresh baked bread. Flavours are quite good, chocolate, caramel, nut oils, earthy, and a bit of spice in the back. Sweet berry flavours show up in the middle. Finish is long and roasty. Great little beer.

341ml bottle. Pours a reddish mahogany brown with a good sized, off-white head. Aroma is malty with some sweet nuts like pecan or hazelnut. Roasty nuttiness in the back of the mouth with a brown sugar malt. Touch of earthy hops. Mouthfeel is very smooth, like velvet. Overall, very nice, like lighter, nuttier porter.
2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 solidfunk (649) - Ontario, CANADA - APR 4, 2012
Has a bit of oaky bitterness. Smells a little of roast malt but taste is basically watery. Smell is light, body is light. Probably the weakest beer I’ve had from a usually good brewery. Small bottle.
3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 kevinsenn (328) - Waterloo, Ontario, CANADA - MAR 28, 2012
UPDATED: MAR 30, 2012 Bottle from brewery, served at cellar temperature. Crystal clear brown, with an orangey tinge to it. Aroma is a little fruity. Rich taste of nuts, malt, roasted malt, chocolate, and even a little fruit; very well balanced. A bigger body than you’d expect from a 5% brew. A solid brown ale; I could have a few of these in a row.

Dark brown and amber pour. Aroma mildly nutty but more of roasted malt, a little chocolate and toffee. Thin body. A little watery. Smoky caramel and soft finish. Not a lot too this.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 scantron (45) - Ontario, CANADA - APR 29, 2011
March 20, 2011; from 341mL ISB, refrigerated, BBD: None
Lots of roasted chocolate malt in the nose. A short head with not a lot of visible carbonation. Head sticks around for a little bit, tan. Deep syrupy brown in colour. Bittering hops comes through in the aftertaste after malted mix of roasted nuts, chocolate and sweet toffee. Very balanced. Not much aroma as the beer sits. Carbonation is a little surprising versus what is visible which makes the beer quite refreshing. It’s tasty from sweet chocolate and toffee, yet refreshing from hops and carbonation.
