beerhugger (541), Oshawa, Ontario, Canada Jan 21, 2004 Solid easy-drinking ale. Nothing special but nothing to make you avoid it either. Mild hops and citrus come out of a very pale beer with a frothy white head that diminishes quickly. Refreshes the mouth nicely and leaves with a bit of a bitter wave. I wouldn't buy it over my everyday Pale Ale (St. Ambroise) but it's fine. Rastacouere (5552), Montréal, Quebec, Canada Jan 18, 2004 Clear golden hue with almost no carbonation, but nonetheless a nice thick sticky and foamy white head. Aroma of english hops and bready, grassy malt. It makes up for a decent session beer with a controlled bitter finish, an almost earthy character and a low-to-medium body, but I couldn't help but being annoyed by the too sweet mouth entrance that is like a fruit syrup attack for a second and quickly phase into the drying hops department. MartinT (5030), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Jan 3, 2004 Updated: Jan 18, 2004Earthy hops thrive in cookie-breeding malt...Crunchy, sweet citrus fruit sprinkled with bread crusts...With its conventional level of bitterness for the style and a nice malt/hop balance, this becomes a straightforward, unpretentious example of the pale ale...Were it more available in these parts, it would still not overtake McAuslan's as my choice pale... CapFlu (3480), Victoria, British Columbia, Canada Dec 17, 2003 (Bottle) Pours a thin, white, quick-dissipating head and a deep amber body with sediment and high carbonation. Great hoppy nose. Good malt and hop flavours mix with a hop finish. Good. jah noth (1015), Rochester, New York, USA Nov 15, 2003 A relatively snappy pale. Golden in color with tiny bubbles and a bit of light floaties. Decent grassy hop flavor with a nice twinge of sweetness. Medium bodied and quaffable. Thanks to Jeremy for the local trade. pondoshuffles (141), Fitzroy Harbour, Ontario, Canada Nov 14, 2003 A nicely hopped pale ale with a good malt background. Grassy and grainy in the nose, with a spicy hit of hops. Satisfying. radiomgb (1921), Peterborough, Ontario, Canada Oct 26, 2003 Deep gold in colour. Aroma was of grass and hops. Flavour was quite hoppy up front, smooth and slightly sweet. Finishes with a medium dryish bitterness. DukeofYork (44), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Oct 24, 2003 Updated: Oct 25, 2003Nice flaxen, gold colour, with bright white foamy head. Fair amount of carbonation. Floral, citric hop nose. Sweet malt starts it out, then we get a rather sharp piney-citric hop kick that lasts and lasts ... long after all the malt backing has disappeared. A rounded finish, and a hint of smokeyness (?) ... good but really doesn't pair well with food (it tastes sour if you pair it).
