[4787-20120918] Tap. Tootsie Roll and chocolate roasted nut malt aroma. Black brown body with a medium-lasting creamy mocha head. Bitter cocoa roast is lightly smoked in the dry finish. Full body is a tad thin. Boozy smoked notes come out more as you progress through the sample. (7+/3/7/3/16) 3.6

Draught, Black Oak Tap Takeover at Volo. Sep. 18. Pours a very dark brown, almost black, with a spare creamy beige head. Aroma of lightly roasted malt, light smoke, mint, spices, some coffee and a good amount of milk chocolate. Nice smoky and malty flavour along with some lactic notes, coffee and chocolate. Medium bodied, slightly creamy mouthfeel. Very good stuff.

Aroma dark grainy notes, bit porter like, creamy with some diacetyl notes. 6-
Appearance handsome opaque black look with light beige cap.3+
Flavor and Palate : medium bodied. As in aroma front more like plain porter. Hint of smoke. Slight tartness with chewy side. Schwartz should be more dry roast , almost metallic with clean base. This one was missing that element.

2012-09-18. Black body with a small beige head. 3+ Aroma is sweeter than expected, with notes of cocoa and chocolate, light roast, mild campfire smoke in the background grows slightly as it warms. Flavour is similar, quite sweet malt, modest notes of cocoa and sweet caramel/sugar touched malt, very light roasty and smoke. Smooth average plus palate, light carbonation. 3+ I liked it more than I expected, the smoke is fairly mild, allowing the base beer to come out more which is to my preference.
