fly (1331), austin, Tejas, USA May 9, 2005 Wonderfully subtle and soft. Think this might be completely lost on me were I to have sampled after much of anything else that might have impacted my pallet. Light fruity esters and light carbonation letting the hops blend to give a finish that just lingers very pleasantly for a long time, never loosing this remarkable quality. Extremely nice and just as nice for Joey Capps to have provided it. Thanks! Ernest (4481), Boulder, Colorado, USA Mar 12, 2005 Head is initially small, frothy, off-white, mostly diminishing. Body is hazy light amber. Aroma is moderately malty (toasted grain), with light notes of banana, clove, detergent, hint of coriander. Flavor is moderately sweet, moderately acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, moderately acidic, moderately bitter, slightly husky. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Not very cleanly made, some off notes, and a little too much banana for a saison. Thanks to David for getting to try it, though! JadoreBlanche (114), London, Ontario, Canada Jan 22, 2005 Thanks Doug, You rock!!!!!
Hazy caramel coloured body. Thick foamy off white head....sediment floating through out the entire body, looks great! Aromas of oranges, caramel malts, and slight spicyness. Malt flavour upfornt witha sweet sour and very bitter finish. Spice also there. Slight corn aftertaste. Lingering bitterness and corn flavour. Very cool to try rudolf (1734), Buffalo, New York, USA Jan 11, 2005 Thx to Jeremy for this one. Nice light spicing, some orange, malt, funk. Lots going on in the flavor. Clove, orange, tonic (this is the first time I’ve used this in a description in a good way), spicing. good stuff. MrManning (1634), London, Ontario, Canada Jan 5, 2005 Thanks for the bottle Doug! Much appreciated. Thick bubbly of white head sits on top of a heavily carbonated orange coloured body. Lots of sediment here too! Nice! Aroma is of orange peel, spices, sour notes, and sweet malt. Complex! Taste is orange peels, spices, sweet and sour bitterness, and some grassy notes. Long lasting aftertaste that is bitter and sour. Well balanced! MartinT (5030), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Dec 23, 2004 The Lure: A compact 1/2 inch head thrones over a yeast particle-filled sand orange body. Portly, doughy Belgian ale yeast aroma with, maybe, some orange zest.
The Festivities: An omnipresent yeast, from doughy to bready, to dusty and bitter, all in a creamy body with low carbonation.
Transcendence: Witnessing all the stages of making bread without getting a taste at the warm and hearty results.
Thanks Stephen for the opportunity!! 11026 (1799), Alabama, USA Dec 19, 2004 Bottle thanks to Ken and DougShoemaker. Cloudy amber color with lots of little floaties. Thin white head fades quickly. Some lacing. Aroma is pleasant, slightly fruity. Taste is malt and yeast. Slightly drying. Pleasant. Lubiere (4463), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada Dec 7, 2004 Dark reddish brown with thick moka head. Almost maple toffee aroma. Nice burnt caramel brule, like flan syrup, with notes of raisins. Very sweet but invigorating, especially after shoveling this heavy icy snow. Nice little hops in finish. Bottle. From North York Sammy, thank you sir!
