Brewed for Volo Cask Days 2008.Like a spiced pumpkin without the pumpkin. Loads of soap bubbles on brown. Big on cinammon. Drinkable. Not too complicated, original brown ale base adds sweetness to the spice. Decent cask.Average mouthfeel.May have been a tad hops.

Cask sample at Volo Cask Days 2008. Ruby-brown with a small bubbly head. Great sweet ’n’ spicy aroma, with notes of cinnamon and nutmeg. Flavour is malty and nutty and a little spicy, with more cinnamon, and a hint of sweet potato. Very interesting, and quite well done.

[1793-20081017] Cask. Allspiced mashed potato aroma with lots of cinnamon and a background of dark malt. Slightly hazy, dark red mahogany body with quick creamy off-white bubbles. Allspice dark roasted malt flavour has a ton of cinnamon. Medium-full body. Excellent harvest-time brew, I really enjoyed it.

Cask at Volo Cask Days 08. Spicy nose, allspice being the most noted, deep brown, small tan head. Tastes very much like a pumpkin beer to me. Light bodied, well balanced, spicy, bitter and dry. Well done.

On Cask at Volo Cask Days 2008. Brown pour, small bubbly head. Malty aroma with earthy spices. Taste is good - spicy nut brown, earthy, a tad similar to the Nutcracker - in terms of spices - . I just wish there was more body to back it up. My beer name and idea of the fest, Ken, you are pretty damn creative!

Cask. At Volo Cask Days 2008. Hazy deep amber pour with an average foamy beige head. Aroma - wow! - amazing stuff - nutmeg, cinnamon, allspice & earthy vegetable sweetness. The taste is dry, slightly vegetal (what a shock), and pungently spicy - a little cloying by the end, as the body tended toward thickness, with not much carbonation and a little astringent acidity in the heavily spiced finish. But I loved it, particularly the nose.

Appearance: Hine slight haze on good shade of brown , mid rocky top. Well contrasting, eye pleasing look.
Nose: Gently spiced aroma , nutmeg , coriander with brown , clean filling. 7+
Flavor/Palate : Clean mid bodied , spiced ale. Subtle , balanced well formulated. Light , yet filling. Christmas cake comes to my mind. Solid stuff.

Cask at ’Volo Cask Days 2008’. Pours a deep clear brown with a spare diminishing bubbly white head. Aroma of caramel malt, spices (nutmeg, cinnamon and more) and yeah, there’s a hint of sweet potato there too. Flavour follows the aroma but is a touch watery -- still quite enjoyable though. Average bodied. Pretty good stuff.

Cask @ Volo’s Cask Days 2008. Pours a very light bodied & lighter brown. Aromas of nutmeg, cinnamon. Taste is quite good. Autumn spiciness. Sweet potato pie. Body was lacking though. Cool concept & beer.

on cask at volo. cask days 2008. muddy brown with a soapy white ring. big spice nose with the sweet potato coming through near the end. flavour is very typical of a spiced fall beer but the sweet potato adds a unique fleshy chewiness that i loved. this was the only brew i went back for seconds of and was the surprise of the day for me.

Cask at Volo Cask Days, October 2008. Pours light brown, amber with a small bubbly head. There are aromas of pumpkin pie, nutmeg, cinnamon. The flavour of the original brown ale is a bit lost. I taste subtle spices, a bit of water; it has a medicinal element. Mouthfeel seemed a bit watery too.
