Great bitter hops but not quite as bitter as a regular IPA. Creamier, thicker and a fuller taste behind just the bitter hops. Excellent.

Bottle from Black Oak brewery. One of my favourite beers available. Pours delicious amber with slight white head. Strong hoppy citrus aroma. Sweet beginning and light bitterness to the finish in perfect balance. I wish I could buy this all year long.

UPDATED: AUG 16, 2012 On tap at c’est what, Toronto. I was surprised at how clear this beer is, despite having a nice orange look. Big pine cone aroma and fresh floral hops.there is a slight nutty note as well. A very hoppy brew, leafy & green bitter notes, no malts, again i feel that the flavour has been striped due to filtration but otherwise a tasty brew.

8.0% ABV <bv> I tried this beer on tap on August 12, 2011 at "C’est What" in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The beer poured a translucent red colour with a thin white head and some effervescence. The aroma is strong citrus and tropical fruit, with some hints of malt. The mouthfeel was medium bodied with medium carbonation. The flavour is grapefruit hoppy with caramel and bread mixed in. A very good beer, although the bitter finish was on the ’dry’ side.

Draught at BarVolo, Toronto, ON.
Clear dark amber colour with small creamy off-white head. Dark bitter grapefruity resiny hoppy aroma. Dark sweet bitter flavour with strong resiny notes. I think it’s too dark hoppy bitter. Slightly over-hopped to be excellent.

UPDATED: JUL 26, 2011 341 mL bottle. Darker than most IIPAs. Smells like an IIPA, though, with lots of tropical fruit in there. The flavour was fairly disappointing, at first, especially after the enticing aroma. There just wasn’t a lot going on, and not much hop flavour. There was some bitterness, but again, not to IIPA levels. But as it warmed, flavours began to appear. Caramel, pineapple, tangerine, bread. No alcohol. Decent bitterness throughout, although it doesn’t last. Creamy/oily mouthfeel. More ASA than IIPA, but then Black Oak never intended this to be an IIPA in the first place. I think I just started it off too cold.

Bottle, pours a nice golden colour, light head, this bad boy taste really good. this is one of the few beers I have tasted and the bottle is better then on tap. The aroma is very strong citrus hops. the taste is not extremely hoppy it was malty and hoppy. one of the weaker in hop flavour ’DIPA’ but it works for this one.

Bottle from the brewery. Cellar temperature. Amber colour in a snifter. Thin creamy head. Wonderful aroma. Its very full and fruity. Papaya and mango dominate; theres lemon zest, a fair bit of pine, fresh orange juice. Really nice. Mid to full bodied. Soft and a bit sticky on the tongue. Malt in the flavour initially then an immediate bitter kick with grapefruit, lemon rind, orange, tangerine, lots of pine. Alcohol is well masked. It has a persistent bitter kick throughout. Excellent.

Pour golden copper nice off white head good lace. Aroma citrus, grapefruit, orange, pine, mild malt. Taste big citrus pine and resiny hops, some caramel and cereal grain, decently bitter and a touch of boozy warmth. MF medium sticky body solid carb. Well brewed very tasty and easy to drink.

awesome citrus and fruity hop aroma. amber pour with good head. citrus fruity hops dominate with a trace of the piney hops. malt flavour is low which i really like with this style. awesome bitter finish. surprisingly drinkable and refreshing. I love seeing Canadian breweries put out great beers like this.
