Bottled@The Chriso Rock The Roof Down pre-GBBF shindig. Amber colour with small off-white head. Aroma is caramel malts with some mild bisquity notes and also very much fruity and floral hops and some mild honey as well. Flavour is very much fruity and floral hops in a quite bittery, but sweetish kind of way. Also has some maltyness and mild vanilla to it. A nice IIPA.

31st July 2010. ChrisO’s ’Raise The Roof’ tasting.
Last beer (for me) of a long days tasting. Clear amber beer. Little white head. Semi soft and semi dry palate. Sweet hops - pineapple and mango - lovely and fresh. Finishes dry. Good stuff and great final beer!

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle at C’est What, Toronto
Hazy red-amber color; small head. Nice aroma of caramel and hops, a bit sweaty. Good toffee flavor; the mouthfeel is lean, no crystal; strong bitterness, providing nice orangey resins, and a tea final. Long end.
Very good, powerful but easy to drink.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Thanks, Doug! Hazy orangey-amber. The aroma is a chewy, oxidized hop. I think as an XI this is from 2011, so it’s been aged a bit. The palate is actually a bit light and soft, though with some chewy crystal and oxidized hop character. There’s a touch of alcohol in the finish. Fits the style.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
650mL bottle, sent from wilco (thanks a lot, Mike), pours a hazy gold / copper with a small white head. Nose brings out lots of earthy hops, some pine, and a crackery malt backing - very earthy smelling. Flavour is dominated by wonderfully dry earthy hops, with subtler notes of grass, a some pine cones, and thin malt backbone that provides support without contributing much to the flavour profile. Super dry and earthy, with a highly drinkable character. Leaves a low-to-moderate astringency. A kickass IIPA from Ontario - who’da thunk it.
