3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap at Brouwer’s for Bigwood, 12/6/2012, served nitro. Amber color, nice fluffy white head. Big blueberry nose. Floral with pronounced hops. Mouthfeel a little thin, but creamy and smooth.
Overall: Nice. Pale ale channeling a blueberry muffin.

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
On nitro tap at Brouwer’s Café for Big Wood ’12. Firstly, this is a fucked up idea – a blueberry pale ale, aged in whiskey barrels and then nitro’d. WTF?? Anyway… pours a very dirty, murky dark amber with a medium creamy off-white head from the nitro. Weird aroma of blueberries upfront that seem like they’ve been liquefied with whiskey – the blueberries dominate though. Flavour is dominated by the blueberries, bringing to mind a boozy blueberry muffin. The whiskey is not that apparent – smooth, creamy mouthfeel, with an extremely high astringency on the finish. Very bizarre, unlike anything I’ve tasted. Oddly drinkable, though not the most enjoyable. Not bad.
