On tap at Black Raven. Spicy banana/clove yeast, slightly funky and nutty, with some caramel sweetness. Definitely some earthy tobacco in the taste. Medium bodied with some charred wood in the finish.

On tap at Black Raven, advertised as 9.9%Pours a dark red/brown. Tastes sweet with hints of raisins and ends sweet, but very alcoholic with hints of bourbon which become overwhelming as it warmed up.

Dark brown in color, clear with a thin head. Lots of Belgian yeast aroma and flavors. Fruity with light spices. This was a pretty tasty beer.

Nose is yeasty and spicy with notes of toasted malts, lots of dark pitted fruity. Dark brown pour with a decently lasting head. Spicy belgian yeast notes, dark fruit, some toasted malts, Sweet and fruity. Some sugary notes as well. Sweet, spicy, fruity, and lightly alcoholic.

Draft at the brewpub. Dark brown pour with a small off white head. Yeasty aroma of dried fruits, dates, dark bread, nuttiness, a little spice. The flavor has a hint of cocoa with the slightly sweaty leatheriness a lot of belgian browns seem to have, plus more dried fruits, earthiness, candy caramel sweetness, more spice. I really like this new batch.

Red-brown with a tan head. Aroma of red/pitted fruit, sourdough and yeast with a bitter, dark fruit, raisinous taste and a crisp, bitter finish. Mouthfeel is slick and chewy with metallic notes. Quite nice.

BillKismet (2753) - Seattle, Washington, USA - AUG 22, 2009
Gorgeous red-orange with a creamed head. Light musky, efferevescent, yet viscous cloviness in aroma and flavor. Strong phenol presence. Decent brew, more akin to a dubbel perhaps than a BSA.

Deep mousey brown, spongy fluffy head. Oak and spice bread, cocoa dust, belgian dubbel yeasty thing going on. Very full in the mouth, not heavy, tannic leather and almond, satisfying yeast.

Tap at Black Raven. Pours a deep, almost opaque, brown with a one finger slightly off white head. Nose is apple, raisin, toffee, yeasty ester with some metallic notes. Taste is much of the same; not bad stuff but nothing earth shattering or revolutionary. Really kind of ’dumbed down’ and it would be much better if the apple and metallic were more subdued.

On tap at Tustin Brewing’s 13th Anniversary party, this dark amber colored beer had some slight candy sweetness along with a touch of funk.
