22oz bottle. Poours hazy orange with a foamy off white head. Little bit of sediment. Aroma is of oranges, spice, wheat, and grassy hops. Also has a fair amount of pine in the aroma. Taste is big on the oranges and spice. There is also a piney/grassy hops taste to it as well. Has a lot of caramel that starts to come through. The flavors don’t seem to blend too well. Has a very stick mouthfeel, which makes it go down strange. Not all that good, but not terrible.

The beer pours orange amber with a generous off white head on top, the appearance being its best attribute. The aroma is booze and oranges, almost like a light orange liqueur. The flavor of the spices on top of the yeast flavor make this taste more like a Belgian golden ale with lots of oranges. The zest lingers on your tongue.

Big thanks to riversideAK for sending me this green waxed bottle. It pours pure clear gold with off white head. The aroma offers up maltiness as well as some grapefruit hops, some spicy hops and a bit of floral as well. The taste if similar although it seems blunted with age. I get some spicy hops, some pine and citrus as well with a thin layer of smooth sweet malts underneath. It seems to end with aged smooth hoppiness and sweet malts that lean more toward the malt side as a sense of roasted malts takes this into the after taste. – Probably should have cracked this one sooner.

Bottle… Farewell to ibrew2or3… Clear yellow ale with a small, tissue papery, white head. Good retention. The aroma is odd, but not unpleasant – acidity, wood, honey, peppery hops and toffee. Barely medium-bodied with tingly carbonation. The flavor is tangy and quite minerally. Fairly bland. It’s like sucking on a rock... right on through the finish. Too much thought and too little skill went into this one. Bottle courtesy of ibrew2or3!

Thanks to IBrew2or3 for the share. Pours a dark yellow with a tan head. Nose is pepper, caramel, tart citrus, and some earthy hops. Flavor is similar with bits of caramel, spice, citrus, and earthy hops. Not my favorite barleywine.

Mostly forgettable semi-sweet barley wine that rated on the lower end of things for punch. Caramel (again) with some orange zest, perhaps pepper (why dry hop a BW with Saaz? interesting, I suppose, but perhaps better employed on a more noteworthy recipe), and medium body. Expected more out of Black Raven.

Botella. Unclear deep golden colour. Fruity caramel sweet yeasty like aroma. Good mouthfeel. Flavour is sweet and fruity with caramel, bit spiced with some alcohol and bitterness. Pleasant.
