5000 (4104) - Hardened Liver, USA - NOV 26, 2011
Bottle:   Now that one is black, no light at all, moderate brown head, foamy, nice lacing.   Nose of Rye and roasted malts, slight hints of alcohol.   Also some notes of bakers chocolate.   Smooth on the tongue, some Rye, slightly dry, roasty.   Pretty tasty, but immediately I wished it were a touch sweeter.   Extremely smooth this is.   Body isn’t real heavy, but this one is very very silky.   Very clean on the finish, bitterness is low, wow factor is high.   Enjoyable, but there is something missing.   Its almost as if all the flavors are too subtle.   This is an Imperial Rye Stout, but the only thing Imperial was the silky mouthfeel.   Yeah, certainly easy to drink, but it could use a bit more umph.   Tasty nonetheless.   Soft roasted malts, ash, and Rye linger.
