Malts: 2-Row Barley, Crystal, Special B, Chocolate
Hops: Magnum, Mt Hood

Ravens in the Scottish Highlands were once thought to possess the gift of second sight, the ability to see future events before they occur. Second Sight is built around malted barley with hops playing a balancing role. This beer is ruby in color with large malt aromatics, delicious malt flavors and a full bodied finish. Available year-round.

Draft. Crystal clear copper body topped by small off-white head. Aroma is moderately sweet, caramel, light peat. Taste is moderately sweet, caramel, some alcohol warming, faint peat. Medium body light stickiness.

Draft 12 oz pour at the brewery. Pours a nice dark amber color with a patchy tan head. Has a very nutty aroma and flavor. Dry up front, malty, and a creamy body to it. Light vanilla and heavy caramel. Pretty standard scotch ale for me, but good overall. Would love to find the fun versions of this some day.

Pours a clear copper color with a caramel malt aroma. Taste is thin, with a decent alcohol flavor. Slight bitter aftertaste with an aromatic finish.

An interesting beer, but strange tastes throughout. Pours a deep red with a thin grey head. Smells of sea salt, scallops, smokiness and caramel. Taste seems like it tries too hard, some caramel, and like an earlier reviewer said, Dr. Pepper. Empty finish. Had in the bottle.

Bomber from Malt & Vine. Pours strawberry/copper with a slight, transient beige head. Aroma of deeply roasted malts - almost like meat. Near full bodied. Flavor is fruity/roasty malt. A bit, woody is not the word, but it’s close. There’s an almost strawberry note to go with the very rich malts. Despite all the malt it’s not all that sweet. Tho certainly not dry. Hops dance around in the background. Maybe there’s a chocolate hint. It’s very "fresh", fruit wise. Really good, if you’re in a malty mood.

Bottle. Pours a fairly cloudy reddish brown color with a moderate off-white head on there. Nose is bready with a bit of toast coming through and just a hint of burnt caramel. Taste is a bit spicy and toasted, with a nice little bite to it. Not bad.

all in all, very disappointing. there’s a little hop edge (which is intriguing), but this is not what a scotch ale ought to taste like. plus, the selection of malts doesn’t seem right--this almost seems like a brown ale. too watery/thin. with apologies to black raven, whose beer i usually LOVE, this is a misfire, even if it’s the only misfire i’ve tried from them.

Very tasty Scotch ale. Nice flavors big malt and hops mix. Plenty of roast and lots of earth smoke like flavors.

Tap at Devil Craft. Cola, or maybe Dr pepper. Malty sweetness, blackberries. Interesting. Nice doesn’t feel like a scottish ale. When warms up, bit more maltiness, and what you’d expect. Fudge and toffee.

Draught at Elizabeth Station, Bellingham
Dark amber color with beige head. Elegant caramel brew, with light rye bread feeling; correct bitterness.
