3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Generic tulip on draft at Beveridge Place Pub in West Seattle. Dark ruby colored brew. Aroma is slightly candy and earthy as I would expect for a strong scotch ale. Some general booze off the scotch but works fine enough for the style. Leafy malt earthiness with some booze and a non sugar candy character. Flavor is surprisingly not over the top. Alcohol is light with a clean medium bodied with a slightly slick feeling. Again, earthy caramel sweet without sugar. So, strong but not too much, very appropriate to style, clean... what more to ask for. Its a bit too clean for the style but otherwise real good.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap at Black Raven, pours a clear dull amber with a small beige head. Aroma reveals big notes of bourbon upfront, with lots of booze and vanilla in there as well. Flavour is a huge vanilla and bourbon bomb, with a big alcohol kick well. I can see how this would be difficult to drink in large quantities, but in this smaller sample, this is a delightful sipper. A nice huge bourbon bomb.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Red wine like color is hazy with a light tan foam. Bourbon, sherry, and oak on the nose. Heavy toffee and malt body that tastes a little tart towards the finish. Finish is red apple. I would definitely drink this again.

Pour at the brewery. Strong taste of wood and spirits. Tastes more like whiskey than beer. One of the best. Amazing.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draft at tap room. Pretty clear mahogany color with very little head. Blackboard says 11.1 ABV. Bourbon is the standout flavor. Having trouble identifying anything else. Overall very good. Will buy a couple bottles

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draft at brbc. Pours a clear dark amber with no head or lace after a minute. Huge bourbon nose, heavy with apricots. Sticky thick body. Apricots and peat on the mid palate...sweet and sticky, but in balance and delicious.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
On tap @ the brewery. 2013 version, listed at 10.9% abv. Pours translucent brown with a ruby tint. Minimal head. Aroma is heavy bourbon notes, nothing else comes through. Taste is smoky sweet vanilla malt, heavy bourbon on the finish. The bourbon dominates to a degree that the scotch character is barely recognizable. Not a bad thing, really, although I do like their regular scotch ale that I’m guessing this is made with.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bourbon, vanilla, dark fruit, brown sugar, toffee, caramel on the nose. Brownish pour, thin off white head. Flavors of bourbon, wood, caramel, toffee, subtle dark fruit and brown sugar. Well balanced good use of the barrel in this one. Smooth with just a light hint of alcohol. Perhaps only complaint is that it is a tad thin.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Whatever problems may have occurred with the initial batch seems to have been solved in the latest incarnation. Full body, light carbonation. Aroma of vanilla, bourbon, figs, brown sugar. Tons of flavor, much like the aroma. This is a pretty great little sipper.

Pours a light reddish brown. Tastes of nothing but bourbon, which completely overwhelms the beer.
