A totem is an entity that watches over and represents a clan or tribe. Totem pale represents us well with its bright citrus hop flavor. Featuring the new hop variety “Summit”, the first dwarf hop to be bred for production in the United States and currently the only hop being grown on low trellis in the Yakima Valley. With its ESB base malt and generous citrus hop additions, you too will want to make the Black Raven your totem.

Really good pale, nice hop kick but very clean aftertaste. One of their standard taps, a good thing!

Clear gold, frothy beige head. Aroma of grain, citrus and floral hops. Taste is more pine bitterness than light citrus, nice stuff.

Sample at the brewpub. Hazy amber pour with a medium light beige head that diminishes steadily. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of hops, citrus and malt. Light to medium body with flavors of hops. grapefruit and sweet malt. The finish is moderately bitter with a citrusy hops aftertaste. Decent all around.

On tap at The Green Frog. Solid pale ale with tons of flavor; pushes into the IPA realm. Crisp and snappy texture. Juicy hops. Floral aromas. Moderate bitterness. Dry finish. Very sessionable and tasty.

On tap at Pike Place brewpub, pours a clear golden with a small off-white head. Aroma of pale malts and light floral hops. Flavour of floral hops mainly, with bready pale / crystal malts. Pretty standard but decently made.

Combo rating between me and my wife. So I would have a tick down. Nice amber hue with odd white head. Great lacing too. Nose is spicy hops and quite generous for a pale ale. Flapcor has an initial burst of hops but not heavy. Good balance of bready malt. Really nice for a standard pale.

Pours a strong golden. Sweet and aromatic with floral hops. Not the most bitter pale ale, but more bitter than the IBUs would lead one to believe.

Amber in color, clear with a thin head. Nice malt and hops balance. Light fruit flavors along with a good dry finish. This beer was easy drinking and very tasty.
