2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 Thorpe429 (4844) - , Illinois, USA - FEB 4, 2012Bottle courtesy of psiweaver in the Good People/No Rules BIF. Served in a Mikasa tulip.
Pours a slightly-hazed peach color with a good white head and loads and loads of lacing on the sides of the glass. The nose brings a bit of alcohol and malt plus some citrus hops and a light bit of pine. Flavor takes a further turn toward the malt, though there’s quite a bit of hop bitterness in the background. Medium body with a bit too much alcohol. Slight chewiness. Decent DIPA.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Prufrockstar (200) - Seattle, Washington, USA - APR 19, 2013
Bottled on Apr 18, consumed on Apr 19. Aroma of fresh, bright tropical fruit. Citrus, dank. Smells pretty damned good. Bread and cat pee more present as it warms. Pours crystal clear light amber with frothy white head, some lacing. Tastes quite a bit drier than any of the double IPAs I’ve had to date. Great bitterness through and through, with little in the way of underlying sweetness. Big citrus, somewhat dank, bitterness, with long finish. Lively carbonation, medium body, lightly oily texture. Overall: Finally got a taste of this one, since bottles don’t often make it to my side of town. The nice and refreshing lack of sweetness at the start became increasingly harsh to me as this went on. I’m curious to see if that varies much from batch to batch -- I’ll definitely seek this out again in any case.

Bottle: The aroma consists of oranges, tropical fruits, peaches, orange peel, and light grapefruit. It pours a transparent golden orange with a two finger yellow-tinged off-white head that fades to a thin film within a minute or so. A nice sheet of lacing is left on the sides of the glass. The flavor starts with a good dose of oranges, tropical fruits, and a touch of pineapple. The finish has moderate grapefruit hoppiness along with some lighter pine and a touch of alcohol. It’s medium bodied with light-moderate carbonation and a somewhat soft, but also oily, mouthfeel.

Bottle: Fiery golden, fairly clear, light carbonation, large frothy white head, nice lacing. Strong citrusy aroma, hoppy, soft resin, a bit of candied orange peel. Smells great! Oh wow, oh so smooth on the tongue. Immensly hoppy yet not overly bitter, malty but not too heavy, citrusy without being astringent, comes across as very very smooth with a candied citrus peel aspect. This is just wonderful! I could drink this all day long! Big citrusy hoppy blast on the backside, that lingers for quite a while. Full bodied, moderate moutheel. Extremely well balanced, with a nice sweetness to balance the bitterness. Tiz a warming IIPA too! This one is very much deserving of having a higher rating. Soo clean, smooth, and well balanced. Brewed quarterly, this time around I think I heard them say there was only 250 or so bottles. I feel fortunate to have had one. Well worth seeking out!
