Pours black with a creamy, tan head. Smooth aroma of toffee, licorice and chocolate. Smooth and round in the mouth. Flavour is dry and roasted with notes of toffee, salty licorice and chocolate leading to a somewhat hoppy finish. Really pleasant and drinkable.

Black with a lasting light brown head. Aroma is sweet, roasted malt, dark chocolate, soy sauce and coffee. Flavor is quite sweet and rather bitter. Dry and roasted rather bitter finish. 060412

200ml as Black Rooster Stout 6.5% abv., from tap at Schouskjelleren Mikrobryggeri. Nice lacing rings to the glass, tiny tan-coloured head. Pitch black body, more or less. Malty sweet aroma with a touch of chocolate. Earthy sweet malts joined liquorice in flavour and offset by grassy hops. Finish off with a nice roasted bitter twist. Ok expression of the style (Oslo, 16.03.2012).

(Draught) Pours black with a brown head. The aroma holds hard roast and green hops up front with notes of asphalt, liquorice, fruity cocoa, dark syrup, dark caramel, some coffee, resin, grapefruit, fresh herbs and soft fruits. Quite American nose. The flavour light to medium sweet, near medium bitter and light acidic with a balanced hop and roast profile. The mouthfeel round and light sticky with a light and soft carbonation. Earthy, woodsy and light citric hops alongside liquorice, menthol, asphalt and coffee on the finish. Medium bodied.

Off-dry, medium bitterness and body, balanced CO2.

Draught @ The Rover on January 14. Pours black with a creamy milk chocolate coloured head that slowly dissipates. Smell is packed with salty liquorice (ammonium chloride) combined with roasted malts and some coffee. Taste is sweet with salty liquorice, coffee with lots of sugar in it and bitter chocolate. Mouthfeel is creamy. Finish is sweet liquorice.

Black ale, with brown, lasting head. Loads of roasted malts in the aroma. Rich flavour with roasted malts and coffee, Notes of licorice and garden bonfire. Rich, thick palate. Excellent stout.

From tap at CBF 2011. Very dark, almost black colour with a small, creamy tan head. Dominated by roasted malts: Chocolate, coffee, and weak notes of licorice. Medium sweetness, lightly bitter, no traces of the hops. Medium to full body, soft carbonation, and a long lasting finish. A nice beer and representative for its style
