3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20

50cl. Pours dark orange/cooper with a big and mostly lasting head. Aroma is that of roasted malt, caramel, bready. Flavor is light roasted, moderate bitterness with a long duration, bready, dry finish.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Desperately disappointing. A fine cask ale fails to make the transition to the bottle. Actually bears very little resemblance to the hand pulled version. Over-carbonated, slightly astringent and lacking in any character. Tried and retried several bottles on several occasions.

peut être à peine trop chaude. Une bière entre l’ambrée et la blonde niveau couleur et très peu de mousse. Cette bière sympathique fait clairement ressortir le malt, sympa mais pas inoubliable

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle, poured into a tulip glass. Amber, with a white head. Great lacing (although this might be because I finally my my glass cleaning technique down properly). Aroma is very dry hay, and other malt notes. Agree wholeheartedly with the market description - bittersweet malt open with a long, dry, bitter finish. Full bodied, nicely prickly for a bitter.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours a clear amber with a half inch of creamy off white head. Aroma is malty caramel, and lightly fruity. Taste is medium bitterness, fruity esters, earthy, caramel, crisp, bittersweet, and dry just as advertised.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
500ml Bottle: BBD 28 Jun 2014, poured into a UK pint sleeve at home on 19 Oct 2013.
Good amber body with an off-white head that tried to stay around.
Which ingredient gives the aroma and taste lead? Malts, but only just, this is a good blend of flavours and smells.
Semi-sweet malty molasses actually rule the flock in this Black Sheep brew. Caramel and mild toffee notes come through with an undertone of hop bitterness asserting it’self towards the end of the nose and taste.
Mellow and soft body: very easy to drink.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Presentation: It was poured from a brown 500ml bottle into an Imperial Pint glass.
Appearance: The body has an orange amber color with a two finger head of light off white foam. The head is slow fading with a wispy thin layer just hanging on. Lacing is spotty and slick.
Smell: It has a very light aroma. All I really get is very light bready malt with very mild fruitiness.
Taste/Palate: Like the nose it has a light bready malt base with thin fruit notes. This is backed up and balanced by mild citrus and herbal hop bitterness. The light body has soft and mild carbonation and a somewhat thin and almost watery feel.
Notes: Overall it goes down easy but the thin feel and flavor are a bit of a let down. I do like what is there but I just want a little more of it.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle at Solberge Hall Hotel, N Yorks, at my cousin Beckys wedding 05/10/13. At £4.80 for the bottle - one was more than enough !!!
Clear copper with a moderate off white head, light carbonation evident.
Nose is toffee, grain, bread dough.
Taste comprises toffee, light fruit tang, brown bread dough, bready malts.
Medium bodied, the carbonation is slightly prickly, a little over pitched. grassy bitterness in the finale.
So so bottled bitter.
