COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle; Pasteurised.
"Beers for bottling are drawn from brewery conditioning tanks and transported by road tanker to our bottlers. There they are chilled, stored for ten days, then filtered and bottled. At the end of the bottling process, the bottles are pasteurised, labelled and packed."
"Brewed with many generous handfuls of choice Golding hops, it is full flavoured ale with a rich fruit nose. The bittersweet malty taste is followed by an uncompromising long, dry and bitter finish. This beer was the first, most successful, of all of our bottled beers."

500ml bottle in an English pint. Pours copper with a fluffy, cream-colored head. Aroma of light malts and fruit plus some light grassy/floral hops. Flavor about the same, but nothing special. Average texture. Was hoping for something better.

Little bit of yeast or wheat on the nose, witha smell that might be a citrus coming through. Resounding smell is sweet malts and earthy characters, though. Litte floral note, too, perhaps. Tastes of sweet malt up front, with a nice bitter, dry finish. light sweetness. Farily floral hop and dry roast dominates most of the taste, but the taste is balanced. There is a nice wheat taste in there, too, like a full, bready or starchy taste. Overall blend of the beer is earthy and quite nice, if a little ’’safe’’. Sits nice in the mouth and doesn’t bully it’s way down the throat.

Appealing aroma, with light spices, pine, faint citrus (orange), a slight amount of diacetyl and a hint of mustiness. Fine-bubbled, creamy head atop a hazy orange-red color and having some intricate, delicate lacing. British hop flavors dominate the start, with their floral, spicy, pine character, then some yeasty esters and toasted, bready malt. Finish is hop-accented along with the aftertaste. Light bodied and with a creamily effervescent, bitter mouthfeel.

50cl. bottle from a supermarket in Swansea. It pours a cloudy amber-copper liquid with a medium-high bubbly consistent lasting but diminishing beige head that leaves some lacing. The aroma is sweet malty, with caramel hints along with floral hops and a little wheat. Very light licorice can also be smelled. It tastes likewise, with a little more wheat character; very nice. It is medium sweet, low sour and low-medium bitter. In the mouth it feels very pleasant, mild but lively carbonated, tiny bubbled, smooth and oily, with a medium body and a bitter-sweet dry finish, with an aftertaste of caramel, wheat, a little citron and licorice, and herbs. A little spicy notes are there too. A very refreshing and nice session beer with a good presentation (label, bottle and crown cap are quite nice).

UPDATED: OCT 7, 2011 Pours a murky brown/orange with a thin head. Feint malty aroma. Taste is bitter malt with hops. This ale is cleaner and crisper than most with some carbonation. Overall it’s bitter and not quite sweet enough for me but I can see why some would like it. Indeed it’s popular in the borders of England especially.
