COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle; Pasteurised.
"Beers for bottling are drawn from brewery conditioning tanks and transported by road tanker to our bottlers. There they are chilled, stored for ten days, then filtered and bottled. At the end of the bottling process, the bottles are pasteurised, labelled and packed."
"Brewed with many generous handfuls of choice Golding hops, it is full flavoured ale with a rich fruit nose. The bittersweet malty taste is followed by an uncompromising long, dry and bitter finish. This beer was the first, most successful, of all of our bottled beers."

Botella. Clear amber golden colour with a big beige head, nice lacing. Aroma has spices and pleasant bitter hops and some frutiness. The mouthfeel is quite good, buttery. The flavour is bitter sweet with caramel, toasted malt, some spices and mild dark fruits. Butter malty finish.

Bottle as shown. Pours a cloudy copper color with a medium frothy off white head. The aroma is a spicy malt with citrus and dark fruit. Good sticky lacing on the glass. The taste is a sweet malt and very bitter with a dry finish. A good bitter from Black Sheep.

Pours a burnt orange with a small white head. Aroma has citrus, dandelion, some honey, brown sugar, and spice. Flavor has a nice sweet beginning and then a gently bitterness takes over in the finish. Notes of citrus, honey, hint of apple, and a light bitter dandelion finish. Decent carbonation, nice beer.

The initial aroma I got from the glass was honeyish. The aftertaste is very dry and hits the back of the palate. The beer pours to a creamy white head which it holds down the glass.

This started out with a musky aroma which thankfully switched to a roasted malt & dark chocolate aroma as it warms in the glass. Cloudy brown in color almost like a cider with a flat head and low carbonation. Flavor is quite similar to the aroma, roasted malt with slight hoppy bitter aftertaste. Overall, a worthy effort.

Date: 2/12/08 Beer info: Bottled in brown 500ml bottle 4.4%abv BB 28 Jun 09 Sampling Notes: Served lightly chilled in glass. Clean pale amber body, fluffy offwhite head that hangs around for a while. Quite a restrained nose; grainy biscuit malt, slight caramel, some faint earthy, spicy, marmalade-like hops. Moderate-to-low foamy carbonation, quite drying straightup, body is lean, slightly gritty. Bitterness is quite apparently early on. Biscuity malt base, grainy bread, I get a bit of butter and caramel. Hops cut through a bit more on the body, grassy, earthy citrus rind. Finish is particularly dry, moderate bitterness, a bit offputting. Id go as far as to say this is a below standard sort of bitter. Not enough malt complexity, not enough hop action, and mouthfeel is a bit off. Drinkable nonetheless.

500ml bottle into tumbler glass. Clear amber ale with a transient off white head. Nose of sugary roasted malts with subtle dry hops. Medium bodied with a fruity (mainly orangey) roasted malt palate and a hint of nuts. Initially bittersweet but rounds off with a pleasant lingering dry bitterness. Very well integrated and drinkable. Recommended.
