3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 LiebeBier (805) - Annapolis, Maryland, USA - JUL 10, 2006
Served at room temp out of the bottle. Redish copper color with a big white head. I really enjoyed this beer and could have had many of them. A creamy malty body that is carbonated to perfection. Great bitter finish that warms the body.
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 omhper (15600) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - JUL 3, 2006
[Bottled at East End Brewery, Quarry Bay, Hong Kong] Brownish amber, clear, firm head. Pleasant mangoish hop aroma. Dryish with clean mouthfeel Pleasant biscuity malt flavour. The moutfheel is short and quickly replaced by grassy bitterness with a touch of sulphur. Unadventurous, but well crafted.
3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 kreepindeth (405) - Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, USA - JUN 25, 2006
Bready, oaty aroma. Appearance is like that of bourbon only with an extremely small white line (read: head). Taste is noticeably malty with a light hop kick finish.
3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 TChrome (1315) - Bedford, Texas, USA - JUN 8, 2006
Beer pours light apricot color with a somewhat retained, off white colored head that laces. Aroma is rather pedistrian with some subltle biscuit malt, a sweet aroma, and a faint hint of hops. Flavor is all about boring. A very mild malt flavor. The finish is mildly hoppy and dry. This is, I suppose, what bitters are about. I guess, I am not a huge fan of the style.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 timtheenchanta (70) - Clemson, South Carolina, USA - JUN 4, 2006
Huge rocky fluffy head. Nice light red copper color with thin sticky lacing.
I had a tough time pinning this taste. It was fruity but not in a berry way. A bit crisper... perhaps an apple or something more along those lines. A good hop balance with yeasty undertones and some thin malt taste.
Very hoppy bitter palate. Very dry and strong finish.
This is a good beer. I’ll pick this one up again.
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 eaglefan538 (2726) - Wilmington, Delaware, USA - JUN 2, 2006
I enjoyed this beer as a casual drinking / session beer. It poured with a generous head and sustained itself fairly well. Lacing was nice, leaving behind nice rings on the glass. The mouthfeel was smooth and somewhat creamy with average carbonation. This may have been one of the best balanced malt/hop beers I’ve had. Starts off malty, feels creamy in the mouth and finishes with a slight bite.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 RoyceH (1129) - Hesperange, LUXEMBOURG - MAY 30, 2006
Looks quite nice, amber colour. Cream head, good lacing. Malty, some hops there too. A bit fruity, but not a great deal there, behind the malts. Nice mid-length bitter aftertaste, dry.
3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Reid (1384) - Salem,Oregon, Oregon, USA - MAY 30, 2006
1.09 pint bottle.
Nice enough looking ale darker amber than most ESBs..nice frothy/bubbly creme coloured head.
Liked the real English malt aroma to this, fruity and pipe tobbacco hints quite nice.
Nice bitter/sweet malts dominate the mouth then theres asmattering of hops to break it up,also gets rather creamy before a semi-dry finish and a long lingering bitter chocolate aftertaste.
Very good on the palate..quite smooth then dries out..well done.
I liked this beer..then i do like the English style brews..and it packs plenty flavour for 4.4 alc.
