COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle; Pasteurised.
"Beers for bottling are drawn from brewery conditioning tanks and transported by road tanker to our bottlers. There they are chilled, stored for ten days, then filtered and bottled. At the end of the bottling process, the bottles are pasteurised, labelled and packed."
"Brewed with many generous handfuls of choice Golding hops, it is full flavoured ale with a rich fruit nose. The bittersweet malty taste is followed by an uncompromising long, dry and bitter finish. This beer was the first, most successful, of all of our bottled beers."

This is a very dry beer but it has the weight and chewiness of a much sweeter brew. There’s a yeastiness in the aroma. It’s filtered chilled so it better be bright but it sits very well on the tongue.

Appearance of this beer would be almost perfect if there was a nice head on it. a great red-orange colour with small carbination bubbles and a thin white head that was gone in the blink of an eye. Aroma of fruits and caramel, but tastes of bitter hops. Definitely deserves the name of Premium Bitter.

500ml Bottle: Pours a beautiful deep amber-orange with almost no head. Aroma of sweet caramel and fruit, which is completely absent in the taste. Hits hard with bitter hops, quite strong for what I expected based on the appearance. A gentle oak flavour, but everything is overwhelmed by the bitter. I’m not a bitter fan, but if you are, definitely try this one out.

Bottle 50cl. Poured dark crystal amber, with a small and quickly disappearing off white head. Aromas of nutty/chocolatey malts. A lovely spicy, perhaps oaky, malt bitter taste, and a similar malt bitter finish. Very tasty bitter, one of my favourites.

UPDATED: JUL 2, 2007 Dry and thin. A tad spicy. Bitter-sweet like the label says (though not that sweet). Amber but not clear. No head - which is fine with me. Quickly becomes more bitter with exposure to air. Good carbonation.

Bottle. Copper-amber color with long lasting creamy head. Tart, fruity and caramelly Goldings hop aroma with some malt, fruity esters and vanilla. Fruity hops and toasted malt in the flavor. Dry, salty and bitter finish with strong Golding hop and toasted malt character.

I have been hitting the English beers more recently. I used to think they all pretty much tasted the same... and I still think that for the most part, but I think it is due to the lack of diversity in style more than the beers themselves. This is pretty good but not one of my favorites... drinkable but I will pass next time.

UPDATED: DEC 29, 2006 From bottle. Black Sheep has a great appearance, deep clear copper colour which keeps its real ale head. The intial aroma is of hops. The oxydation of the beer is perfect I feel, It is easy to drink with a slight wheaty taste. However leaves a strong bitter after taste. Overall I feel this beer is very good, easy to drink with taste.
