2.6 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 nick76 (3461) - Tampa, Florida, USA - DEC 28, 2005
This was a real disappointment. The aroma is like dish soap or mop water. The appearance is nice however. It’s reddish amber with a nice off white head that is quite persistent. The flavor is bitter, buttery, and malty. It seems to get better as you drink it. The palate is a bit thin. Overall this is a disappointment. I was expecting something a lot better.

(Bottle 50 cl) Almost coppery colour, hazy with a rich and stable head. Lovely fruity ale with distinct nutty notes and a marked bitter finish. Very fresh. 100303
2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Sammy (5888) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - DEC 13, 2005
Very decent hoppy and barley aroma. A bit light on taste but goes down well with food. Satisfying but nothing extraordinary. Understated bitterness and a great big head. Light body colour and mouthfeel. Dry and somewhat bitter aftertaste.
4.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20 HazelRah (276) - Summerland, British Columbia, CANADA - DEC 13, 2005
Poured a dark amber with amber tinged head and lace. Bitter hops on the nose. Creamy smooth palate with an initial impression of what I would call olive. A veritable bouqet of hops and silky malty biscuitness fill the mouth. This was so smooth and drinkable that I’m finally starting to "get" English Ales. Sure it doesn’t have the heaviest, most gnarly, mouthfeel but it’s meant to be a session ale, no?
3.1 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 stickranger (3) - Brookhaven, Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 9, 2005 does not count
Nice color and head. Godd after taste. Not too bitter. As others have said, could have had more body. Very smooth. A very drinkable British Ale.
4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20 larsga (4435) - Oslo, NORWAY - DEC 7, 2005
Huge, offwhite, creamy head; clear, brown body with ongoing
carbonation. Faint, harmonic aroma of resiny hops and some malts,
maybe some bready notes. Taste is extremely smooth, of slightly
roasted, faintly smoky malts, with a lovely, crisp aftertaste of
resiny hops, and maybe some citrus hops. The taste is very balanced,
and nice. Some bitterness. Not the most complex, or fancy-tasting beer
I’ve had, but exceptionally well made, and highly drinkable. Highly
recommended!
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 illinismitty (2239) - Nashville, Tennessee, USA - DEC 7, 2005
A british ale typical of what you would find at countryside pubs in England. Pours light brown, with little head or carbonation. Light fruity and sweet malt aroma. Not a very bitter beer when compared to american standards. Pretty even balance of hops and malt, with a mild hop and pepper finish. Not much body, but that is typical of many english regional ales. Us American beer drinkers are used to much more body. But I enjoyed this beer. Very smooth. Reminded me of my last visit to Stratford upon avon.
3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 TheGrandMaster (2308) - Auckland, NEW ZEALAND - DEC 4, 2005
Poured from the bottle, a light brown with a head that disappeared very quickly. A rick malty/flowery aroma. Malty again in the flavour with a little carbonation in the mouth.
