A Sim rate (bottle at Laney’s): Malty and sweetly buttery & syrupy aroma. Bitter but peppery flavour. Malty bitterness. It’s ok. I could drink a few of these.

500ml bottle. Pours a clear amber, with a small, dissipating head, yet passable lace. There is a fair bit of honey on the nose, with the merest hint of citrus hops. Moderate citrus hops to start with some assertive sweet malt coming through, particularly some honey character. Not the most complex bitter around, but a good session ale.

Biggish offwhite head. Light amber body with carbonation. Light fruity earthy toffee aroma with resiny notes. Dry-sweet earthy fruity floral taste with toffee notes. Mild mouthfeel. Light body. Dry earthy grapes and wild berries aftertaste with dusty papery notes. Fairly bitter. Nice, drinkable, and a bit unusual. (0.5 bottle, Sainsbury’s, London.)

Bottle. Sweet orange and barley malt aroma. Golden yellow color with large head. Sweet orange, barley malt and lightly bitter herbal hops flavor. Nice easy drinking beer - slightly tart but nowhere near as tart as the cask version.

500ml bottle. Not quite golden, more in the line of copper really. Pours with a fluffy head that doesn’t stay long. Bready, caramel malt aroma, some citric notes. Dry and a bit thin on the palate with a bitter citrus quality and OK malt body.

500ml bottle. Pours amber with a large head. Aroma is malt and some grassy hops. Some malt and hops in there, but not much on the taste. A good bear could be coaxed out of this, but this is nothing special.

Bottle at my sister’s (from Waitrose)? Amber/gold with a short lived white head. Dusty hops with a slight metalic twang. Unremarkable.

Pours clear dark brown-amber with small off-white head. Malts, toffee and citrus aroma nicely balanced. Flavor of hoppy and caramel sweet; well carbonated. Nice bodied on palate and a bit thin finish which is nicely bitter.
