3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 BlackHaddock (1709) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - MAY 10, 2012
Brown 500ml bottle best before 28th Nov 2008, drank 13th Feb 2008.
Poured into a vase shaped ’Old Speckled Hen’ pint glass. Another Brit beer that looks like a dark Dort or a light Alt. Old gold in colour with a thin no-head, which makes me think of these two aforementioned German styles of beer.
Very un-German in the aroma, more hops and barley than is evident in Germany. A typical English ale smell.
Crisp dry and tart in the taste, nothing overpowering, just a good beer.
The beer has something about it, difficult to place, but it has both depth and a presence which few 4.7% beers have.
I like the normal Black Sheep on cask, it is a regular guest beer in bars around where i live. This is good too and I will look for it on cask.
2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 worldbeertaste (615) - Lancashire, ENGLAND - MAY 7, 2012
Copper/amber colour with a lsting off-white head. Smells of caramel malt, straw, roast and fruity (apples?). Medium thin body with carbonation. Sweet frutiy (apples?) malt taste, straw with a dry bitter hop finish. A strange chemical sulphur lingering taste. Yeast? By the name I expected a golden ale.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 JorisPPattyn (6725) - Antwerpen, BELGIUM - FEB 5, 2012
Small off-white head, over metallic-copper, clear beer. Herbal/grassy smell with a bit of caramel-like aroma (the Demerara?). Rainwater smell, wet dog. Bitterish, fresh-hoppy and the flavour, but not the sweetness of caramel. CO² present in the taste; finish is dry-bitter-hoppy. Hints of arachide and even diacetyl. Rather well-carbonated feel; light body, bit slick. Not bad, unspectacular. I wonder about the absence of the wheat in the flavourprofile, and also: wouldn’t this be a whole lot better if reseeded with some yeast, sugar and bottle-conditioning?
3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 AKSalmon (45) - Norfolk, ENGLAND - JAN 20, 2012
This beer is a descent dinner beer the aroma is slightly citrusy with a golden color. The flavor is alright with a slight orange peel after tast that finishes with hops. It flows smoothly across the palate overall it is a decent beer but nothing to write home about.
2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 delnoche (371) - GERMANY - JAN 20, 2012

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 jackl (727) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - DEC 27, 2011
Bottle. Pours a deep golden color with a modest white head. The nose is grainy, some grass, mild malts, bread, nuts, honey. The taste is mildly sweet and easy, dry lightly bitter finish. The body is medium, the carbonation subtle, the texture slightly thin. Overall, an easy-sipping bitter. Not interesting, but gets the job done.
2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 ALLOVATE (1706) - Butler, WA, AUSTRALIA - DEC 15, 2011
Big, frothy, lasting off-white crown atop a finely beaded, orange tinged copper body that has just a little haze to it. Nice zesty, floral notes on the nose with hints of fresh baked white bread, caramel and sticky marmalade. Frothy, foamy mouthfeel. Relatively light bodied and subdued for flavour. Bitter orange and floral hop notes in back. Short, floral and mildly plasticy swallow that has just a hint more orange and pine wood. Very subtle toasted malt front. The fermentation gives it a typified Black Sheep nuance that I can’t quite pin point. Becomes more and more citrussy as it goes, with a quenching dryness to the finish. Not bad, just didn’t excite me the way good bitters do!. (50cL, BB 28/02/12, Thirsty Camel, Butler)
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Benjii (2395) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - DEC 2, 2011
Bottle at home. Pours a golden colour with a thin beige head. Aroma of grassy hops, caramel and alcohol. More of a treacle flavour with a nice bitter finish. Moderate carbonation and a long bitter, apple seed dryness.
2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20 Chiswick (144) - Greater London, ENGLAND - NOV 26, 2011
aromascape is very basic to what you would expect with that stable mixture of hoppyness and malt. manages to bring out a nice citrus scent. the taste is a mixture of bitterness with that nice sweet kick next to it. unfortunately these are the aspects you pretty much get and I was left expecting more. The texture could have been deeper and used some more body, but to me most of the low % golden bitters in this style do. the taste is left pretty bland and thin, it fails to deliver that extra depth and character. a good standard golden.
