Bottle sourced from Beer Hawk. Pours a curiously light and brown beer for an imperial stout. Actually it really tastes like a stronger and more boozy version of traditional Black Sheep beer, you can really get the house character. Some dry malt with licorice, bit of fruit cake, not so much of the powerful darker bits of the barrel one might expect from an imperial. Enjoyable.

330ml bottle. Darkest brown colour with average to huge, frothy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, beige head. Concentrated dark malty aroma, spicy, salty, hints of soy sauce, lovage, Worcester sauce. Taste is bitter, dark malty, alcoholic, salty. Not my taste.

massive malt aroma bit of tar, hardly any head. tastes like it smells quite thin but smooth with a strong alcoholic aftertaste, better from a bottle tbh.

Bottle from Terre de Boissons, Coquelles, France. A dark brown/black coloured pour with a healthy beige head on top. Roasty, malty, chocolate aroma. Tastes similar, roasty, malty, chocolate, slight bitterness, slight sourness.

Nice, well made Imperial Stout, creamy mouthfeel, lots of coffee and roasted malt in this. Great value too :)

Cask at the Earl of Essex - Islington, London. Pours black-brown with a creamy beige head. The nose holds dark and leathery fruits with touches of chocolate. Medium sweet flavor with ashy roasted malts, cocoa. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Pretty well balanced to finish with more roasty malts, dry cocoa, and lightly tangy blackberries and raisins. Impressively little alcohol presence. Fair.

Bottle. Pours deep brown to black, medium creamy tan head, great lacing. Aroma is chocolate malt, molasses, anise. Flavor is much the same, medium sweet, light plus bitter. Full body, creamy mouthfeel.

An attractive aroma of chocolate with raisins and roasty malt. Poured very dark rouge brown with a large bone-coloured head. Complimentary sweetness and bitterness mellows the weight and tapers to a long, pleasant - albeit predictable - finish. An enjoyable stout, crafted for people for don’t enjoy stout...of which I am usually one!

Raisins, chocolate, malts in the aroma. Taste is port, raisins, dark chocolate, Vegemite. This is really great. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

The flavour of this imperial Russian stout grows in volume to a beautiful crescendo. It will be revisited regularly... Frangimus
