3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle sourced from Beer Hawk. Pours a curiously light and brown beer for an imperial stout. Actually it really tastes like a stronger and more boozy version of traditional Black Sheep beer, you can really get the house character. Some dry malt with licorice, bit of fruit cake, not so much of the powerful darker bits of the barrel one might expect from an imperial. Enjoyable.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle courtesy of Philippe (Bov); 28 Mar 2015
Dark brown color, almost black; generous beige head. Thin dark ale, some dark caramel flavor, but very light aroma and simple flavor; traces of liquorice; I guess that using sugar didn’t help.
Very timid offer.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
6th Feb 2015: shared bottle at the 3rd Annual beer exchange in De Bierboom (Brugge). Almost jet black in looks, the head a tanned foam blanket. Deep roasted malty nose and taste, liquorice notes to the fore. Semi-sweet initially fading to a drier, bitter finish. Decent and easy to drink, even at 8.5% ABV.

Decent liquorice aroma and flavour, great black colour, just needs something extra on the finish to make it great.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
33 cl bottle.
Pours clear dark ruby color with a small off-white head. Sweet caramel and honey notes on the aroma, nuts and hops, some syrup, mild chocolate. Way too thin for an IS, caramel malts, some juicy fruity notes, resin, syrup and mild wood. A bit too "English" for my taste.
