3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle sourced from Beer Hawk. Pours a curiously light and brown beer for an imperial stout. Actually it really tastes like a stronger and more boozy version of traditional Black Sheep beer, you can really get the house character. Some dry malt with licorice, bit of fruit cake, not so much of the powerful darker bits of the barrel one might expect from an imperial. Enjoyable.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
from Amstein - pours a very dark brown beer under a long lasting beige foam; nice lacework; roasted aroma of black chocolate and walnuts; rounded, full-bodied and tasty; quite bitter, long roasted aftertaste of ashes, black chocolate and nuts

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle. Deep brown with cream head. Aromas of sherry soaked fruit, dark chocolate and molasses. Heavy, hot alcohol up front and throughout. Dark chocolate in the mid palate and heavily roasted malts through to the end. The flavour profile is not complex enough to stand up to the alcohol. Over carbonated. Very disappointed. A beer that had been talked up to me.

1.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 3/20
Bottle. Soapy looking brown colour. Not the colour you’d expect from a stout. This must be a bad bottle because it couldn’t be further from an imperial stout if it tried. It’s the first imperial stout I’ve ever poured down the sink...

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Aroma: Sherry, dark fruit, raisin chocolate, light alcohol, pepper, roasty, no dms, no diecetyl,
Appearance: Clear, dark red to dark brown body. Large light-brown head. good retention
Flavour: strong Raisin, alcohol warming, medium astringency, dark fruit. Medium-high bitterness, medium-light sweetness, bittersweet, coffee,
Mouthfeel: Medium-full body. medium carbonation, creamy.
Overall: A good example, but can do with a more body and more complexity from the malts. Higher mash temp will make this change to bring this beer to the 4+ range.
330 ml bottle, poured.

2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 6/20
Light beige, small head. Caramel, roasted and apple. Like a Lindemann’s apple was mixed with a random Imperial Stout. No, thank you.

Puzzled by some sniffy comments on here
I’m greatly enjoying this
Great espresso aroma, lovely Mouthfeel and a great, rich taste
Some sweetness, some acidity, a bit of alcohol fizz
Hope they continue making it

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20
Pours black with espresso head. Good head retention. Aroma is coffee, roasted malt, dark fruit, molasses and chocolate, Slick palate with low carbonation. Aftertaste is bitter dark chocolate, acidic coffee and lingering roasted notes. Overall: Nice and sessionable. Dont like the acidic notes in the aftertaste.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from Beer Hawk. Appearance - Pours pitch black with a thin but lasting cream head. Aroma is sweet, malty, fruitcake and caramel with some balsamic vinegar. Taste starts sweet malt and coffee/chocolate then moves quickly to sweet & sour, tangy soy sauce, ends in longish dry finish. Surprisingly light for IRS. Mouthfeel is similarly light with low/medium carbonation. Not bad but I prefer my Imperial Stouts to be fuller, roastier and with a touch more kick.
