Commercial Description:
Bottled - pasteurised.
Another fine addition to the Black Sheep Brewery range of premium bottled ales, our Holy Grail Bitter was specially commissioned to commemorate the 30th anniversary of Monty Python. It has a distinctive taste with plenty of fruity hops, and is full flavoured with a dry and refreshing bitterness.

50cl bottle from ICA. It poured a slightly pale yellow colour with a big white creamy head that settled down slowly in the glass. The aroma smells of hops, pears and a hint of citrus fruits. The flavour is bitter and tastes of malts, and citrus fruits. It has a medium long aftertaste. At first I thought this was just another gimmick beer, but I was pleasantly suprised by both the aroma and the flavour.

Draft @ Monster B’s. This beer kinda grossed me out. Thinly flavored but the palate felt slightly poisonous. I paid for it, so I finished it.

Bottle. Pours gold with an off white head. Wheaty aroma with cherry and lemongrass. The flavor is sweet and fruity, almost cherry. Nice.

Sampled at a beer tasting at Barb’s Beer Emporium in Concord, N.H. I sampled what was described to me by the Distributor as the U.S. contracted recipe from High Falls Brewery in New York. It poured from a 12 fl. oz. bottle in a yellowish color. I noted a mild aroma of malts. Medium mouth feel. Slightly bitter but overall mild and not terribly bad.

Pours a medium amber with a thin white head. Aroma was light, with hints of sickly sweetness (caramel malt and maybe a bit of molasses). Flavor is somewhat bready and sweet malts. But it really does just taste skunky, like an American lager. Thin and watery. This ended up being a drainpour for me. Even if you’re a Monty Python fan, don’t be suckered in by the marketing gimmicks.

Getting my old notebook online. Bottle. Amber color with a creamy head. Strong fruity smell with intriguing malty hints. Taste watery at first then some malty bitters hit. More complex as you go, a bit acid, dry fruitiness on the roof of the mouth. After-taste is a bit thick. Relaxing, quality ale.

Dreaded this fearing a marketing dept driven ale. Was very pleasantly suprised. Frothy white head, citrus aromas with a flat tailing off back in. Very nice. Cloves and spice.

Aroma was not real pleasant (reminded me of warm budwieser) - taste isn’t bad just boring. kinda grassy/citrus flavor - what do you expect from a beer ’Tempered over burning witches’ - I think I got some of the broom. not my style of brew.
