Commercial Description:
Bottled - pasteurised.
Another fine addition to the Black Sheep Brewery range of premium bottled ales, our Holy Grail Bitter was specially commissioned to commemorate the 30th anniversary of Monty Python. It has a distinctive taste with plenty of fruity hops, and is full flavoured with a dry and refreshing bitterness.

Light copper, coarse white head. Shepherd Neame like aroma, grassy hops, fruitiness, little nutty and toasty malts. Nutty, fruitcake flavor, grassy hops, little peach and wood in the finish. Almost medium bodied, low carbonation. Quite nice fruity bitter.

Generic looking amber bitter. There was a strong smell of what I can only put down to chlorine. Its possible its been contaminated with sterilising checmicals at bottling I suppose but I’d expect better quality control from the brewery so I’m not sure. Otherwise, sweet cereal nose. Predominant caramel flavours with a dry floral finish. Fairly nicely balanced but a bit run of the mill.

Clear amber, fluffy lacy head. Malty aroma with a bit of fruit. Earthy-leafy hops of the mild variety, hints of orange. Far too one-dimensional and mild. Buttery medium-full palate, mild carbonation. Nice medium-bitter finish, though.

Pours clear amber with a thin white head. Aroma is playful candy malt a little licorice, grassy hops and an almost white wine like fruitiness. Buiscuity malts up front along apples, a little nuttiness like honey almonds, with some grassy hops and some bitter hops to finish. All flavors were a little weak but added up to be pretty pleasant overall. I havent tasted alot of ESB’s but this seems about average in my experience. Aroma was the best part. Very interesting...

Amber coloured beer with some light carbonation and an average white head. Light malty herby and little fruity caramel touched aroma. Full sprankling palate. Finish is bitter yeasty fruity sweeter touched taste with a strong bitter hoppy, overwhelming ending. Not bad.

Bottle 0,5l. Golden brown colored. A rapidly disappearing fluffy head. Sweet fruity aroma. Flavor with hints of orange. Some bitterness in the finish. A bit one dimensional.

draft. Citrus grassy hops on the nose with fresh cut apples. Pours pale blonde with a white head that last some time. Sweet bready malts up front followed by an earthy bitterness, with a slight resin flavor in the finish. It finishes dry and crisp. A pretty good ESB all in all, good session beer.

Bottle... Poured copper, orange with a real thin white head that diminished immediately. Floral aroma with some spicy hops and buttery, malt grains. Leafy, herbal hops lend towards a warm malt balance. Alright flavor, would make a good session ale but it’s a little over priced for that.
