A great hop profile on the flavor. A decent mix of bittering hops and floral hops. Finish was crisp. Angeloregon (2025), Portland, Oregon, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Aug 18, 2008 From a small bottle purchased at Johns Market Place--Poured a deep amber-copper hue with a thick white head. Nose of cardboard and caramel malts with some spicy hops. Flavor of sweet honey and earthy nuttiness. Hard to drink. Sweet and something off. Disappointed that Monty Python’s name was associated with this drab beer. wheresthepath (534), Buckinghamshire, England
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Aug 17, 2008 [500ml bottle] My workmate Justin bought this back as a gift from Scotland, having bought it in DOune Castle where large parts of the Holy Grail movie were actually filmed (cheers Jus!). Pours a golden-brown with a large but diminishing white head. Moderate soft carbonation. Taste is honeyed, with some grass, dusty hops. The Black Sheep earthiness is still there, but less evident than in their other beers. In fact, overall I’d say this beer is a little on the bland & watery side for an ESB. Nevertheless, it’s very drinkable and more-ish, and far more pleasant than you expect for these sort of silly-name movie tie-in beers. Not bad at all. Steinface (77), Hatfield, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 14, 2008 Buy it because its Monty Python if for no other reason. Its actually not just a gimmick though, I thoroughly enjoyed this beer. Strong, full taste. It was the strangest thing, after drinking it I had the sudden need to own a shrubbery. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 12, 2008 Nice aroma, smells faintly of summer time with notes of hay and the faint scent of hops. Nicely bitter, smooth across the tongue, faint aftertaste.
It *says* it’s "Tempered over burning witches", but I didn’t taste a single note of witch in it :(
It’s an amusing bottle and a beer worth buying, with a taste a step above what you’ll find in the beer section in most grocery stores. unclemike (834), Ft. Riley, Kansas, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Aug 12, 2008 A great show, and a great name for a not so great beer. Pours from the bottle to a reddish orange with medium off-white head that lingers, and excellent lacing. From there, I must say NEE! Aroma is faint grassy, floral hops. Taste is OK, but no flavor in particular jumps out. Palate is immediately too dry, not bitter enough, and slightly metallic. Nice try, but not there.

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 11, 2008 Bottle. Poured amber with a thin fast dissipating head. Medium aroma with a bit of hop, and a bit of hay. Malty flavour with a good bitter edge. Rather flat finish, just drops of the table. And I must note that I didn’t notice any note, aroma or flavour of witch. But still a lekker session bitter or with a plate of fish and chips. DasGrau (18), Topeka, Kansas, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Aug 6, 2008 Absolutely no head with a nice amber color. The beer really does not stand out too much in any way. Not a bad beer to finish mowing the lawn with though.
