Commercial Description:
Bottled - pasteurised.
Another fine addition to the Black Sheep Brewery range of premium bottled ales, our Holy Grail Bitter was specially commissioned to commemorate the 30th anniversary of Monty Python. It has a distinctive taste with plenty of fruity hops, and is full flavoured with a dry and refreshing bitterness.

POurs light brown and shows a malty and bitter style on the nose and the palate. The hops show more on the latter part of the palate into the finish.

Copper, nice head. The aroma is hoppy with a note of cheese. The flavour is fruity, rather bitter, acidic and dry. It’s OK, but quickly forgotten.

Poured a coppery orange with a substantial off-white head that left substantial lacing on the glass. Being a huge fan of Monty Python, I which I could say more good things about this beer, but truth is, it’s only okay. It’s not very flavorful: it’s malty, biscuity, and a tiny bit fruity from the hops, but the fruity seems to be a little oilier than it should be. Not all that flavorful. Not worth the $4 I paid for the bottle, but not really worth complaining about either.

Being a huge Monty Python fan the label on this one caught my attention immediately...and the fact that it is indeed tempered over burning witches...The brew pours an a light brown with hints of orange...the head left in a hurry....sweet smells compliment the initial taste.... the flavor changes as it moves to the back of the mouth and beyond. This one starts sweet and ends bitter Very good flavors but nothing knock out. Will have to buy more of this next time I watch the movie.

From the bottle this poured a orange to brown color with a big foamy head that left lots of big lacing rings. Nose of sweet malts and a creamy mouthfeel. Flavor is again sweet malts, and finish is slightly bitter. Overall a decent brew.

Typical esb not that great. Tangy sort of taste with no hops and a copper colorer body. Foamy head but lacking in the taste dept.

Interesting label but not much more than that. Pours golden with mild carbonation. Aroma of sweet malt and a bit grassy. Reminds me more of a lager than an ale. Dull flavor bores me.

Rated 2/20/07: Nice mild bitter, sure the sweet label caught my attention who doesn’t love the Monty Python movies but this turned out to be a very enjoyable ale. Malty scent with a splash of fruit and musty yeast, not too powerful. Rich golden amber pour with a honey gold hue, thick fluffy head that remained and moderate lacing. Refreshing is an understatement, rather creamy and exceptionally smooth and easy. Flavor is a more intense version of the nice aroma. A good dose of hops round out the nice malt taste.
