Commercial Description:
Bottled - pasteurised.
Another fine addition to the Black Sheep Brewery range of premium bottled ales, our Holy Grail Bitter was specially commissioned to commemorate the 30th anniversary of Monty Python. It has a distinctive taste with plenty of fruity hops, and is full flavoured with a dry and refreshing bitterness.

Aged 3-4 years (not sure, found in parents’ fridge drawer, no date). Bright golden color with a lot of carbonation, thick bubbly white head and little lacing. Strong sweet aroma. Flavor is slightly malty, a little sweet and a bit sour. Tasted a note of fruit, almost cherry-like. Second pour to finish the pint added more cloudiness and became more malty and less sour.

From bottle. Pale orange with thin white head. Nose is caramel malt with sour undertones. Flavor follows and is reminiscent of dirty socks. Yuck.

Bottle. Split with gputty. Nose is sour, with dirty laundry tossing around. Flavor is much the same. No thanks.

Bottle. Ok head. Ok red brown body. Not very exciting aroma, some fruit. Heavy nutty flavour with a tad of dried fruit. (dates/figs?) Much flavour in this one, but perhaps not the right flavour. (Porterhouse Dublin, 17.03.07)

Basic malty aroma. Orange color with a medium density large white head that quickly disappears. Malty start with a carbonation bitter finish.

Bottle: Pours golden, no head, nice lacing though. Hops dominates the aroma and flavor. Dry and bitter (but not overwhelmingly so), which is not my thing, but it isn’t awful, either. My friend S loved it, but he likes hoppy beers.

Bottle Yellow pour with minimal head and a bit of lacing. Citrus and hop aroma. Crisp mouthfeel with more citrus in the flavor. Pretty light and average.
