Commercial Description:
Bottled - pasteurised.
Another fine addition to the Black Sheep Brewery range of premium bottled ales, our Holy Grail Bitter was specially commissioned to commemorate the 30th anniversary of Monty Python. It has a distinctive taste with plenty of fruity hops, and is full flavoured with a dry and refreshing bitterness.

Hazy red-gold body, light white head. Caramelly malt aroma, maybe a touch of molasses. Light palate but rich malts flavour with toastiness at the end.

Poured an amber brew with a profuse creamy head. Smelled like corn and water. A lot of alcohol in the taste. Overall kind of gross.

Bottle. Light fruity hoppy aroma. Pours clear golden with an off-white head. Taste is mildly bitter, not really any hops or fruitiness, but the aftertaste does turn pleasantly doughy. Thin body. Pretty much your standard bitter.

Totally average beer. I don’t remember much since I didn’t take notes, but I remember being unimpressed. Sweet and boring. Will not drink again.

A nice drink, I cant think of anything bad to say about it, but on the other hand I cant think of anything good to say about it. It doesnt stand out to me through the countless amounts of other ales, but that doesnt change the fact its a nice tasting beer.

On tap at Barley’s in Knoxville, TN. Pours a light copper color with a very small head. Aroma is fairly light, not much going on at all with this beer. Some notes of hops and bready malts. Flavor starts off pretty bland with a bready taste to begin with. The beer finishes with a hoppy bitterness but nothing to get the other taste out of your mouth.

Poured a light copper color. Very clear beer. One finger head that quickly disappated but did leave some decent lacing. Aroma is almost nonexistent with a slight hint of malt. It tastes a lot better than it smells. Slight woody taste with some bitter on the finish. While this isn’t great it is better than I had expected. It stares at me in the liquor store each week and I finally broke down. But will not purchase again at its high price point. With the taste I am really suprised this is classified as an ESB because it doesn’t seem to fit.

Pours light-med. copper with a decent, tight sl. reddish-beige head. A bit of hops on the nose with other "green" notes. A bit grainy, cereally. Med. bodied, and med. carbonation. Reasonably sweet celery, a bit grainy. Cidery, apple finish and a touch a acidity. Very slight bitterness. I don’t like SPAM! I mean, Holy Grail.
