brew4all (102), Las Vegas, Nevada, USA Sep 30, 2006 Nice golden pour with a short lived white haed. Aroma was yeast and honey and some sweetness as well. The brew tasted mild with tones of malt and honey and finished with a hint of grass and pear. TheJester (694), Peterborough, Ontario, Canada Sep 30, 2006 500 mL bottle. Amber with moderate head that mostly disappears. Smells like yeast and bruised apples. Me no like. Not so much going on with the taste. A little sweet. Bitterish finish isn’t bad. larsga (2937), Oslo, Norway Sep 29, 2006 Huge creamy white head with larger bubbles. Sweetish malty aroma with dark fruity notes and metallic hop notes. Taste is deep, sweetish faintly smoky malts with a dry, resiny, metallic finish. Bitter, resiny taste lingers. Clean, smooth mouthfeel. A good beer, but not too special. (0.5l bottle.) FistFullOfCats (162), Raleigh, North Carolina, USA Sep 27, 2006 Bottle. Pours a very pretty honey red gold with an ok white head. Head was gone in less than a minute. Rich but subdued honey aroma, little milk, little pear. Flavor is dominantly honey as well, but a more raw, clover honey as opposed to the out of the plastic bear honey of the aroma. Really pleasant and light red apple skin bitterness. Great taste, but just not a ton of it. Seems like this beer should just have, i dunno, more of the flavor it has. Body is watery and thin, not a good match for the flavor. Aftertaste is more of that fall fruit bitterness, but you kinda want it to go away sooner. Over all this is very tasty beer; as strange as this may sound, that is just about the only thing it has going for it. Not quite distinctive enough though. Dickinsonbeer (3434), Hoboken, New Jersey, USA Sep 26, 2006 Pours a slight hazy deep gold with a short lived white head. Aroma is grassy with hints of hay and some floral hops- lightly estery. Light bready malt with more hay and grass with a herbal grassy hop bitterness in the end. Slight metallic hints all around. Meh. KingofCastle (202), London, Ontario, Canada Sep 24, 2006 bottle: Here come those Goldings Hops again, talk about a bite that overwhelms the malt base (which lacks sweetness & depth). Amber, thick bubbly white head that fades fast. The hops are way too bitter & not fruity at all. This is thin & harsh (to describe this as crisp would be too flattering) for an ale & the finish is so inferior to a high quality bitter (Fuller’s London Pride Ale or Wychwood’s Hobgoblin). I’m hoping that as the warms, it softens up. KnutAlbert (3108), Oslo, Norway Sep 22, 2006 Fine amber bitter with a rocky head. Well balanced maltiness and bitterness, but it lacks the little extra to lift it from the crowd. Refreshing. LeopardMan (53), New Zealand Sep 21, 2006 Great bottle and label, nice enough beer.
Served in a lager glass. Amber colour. I thoroughly enjoyed the malty/spicy quality which runs right through this beer - butterscotch?
In any case, if this wasn’t imported I’d drink this as a session bitter.
