Commercial Description:
Bottled - pasteurised.
Another fine addition to the Black Sheep Brewery range of premium bottled ales, our Holy Grail Bitter was specially commissioned to commemorate the 30th anniversary of Monty Python. It has a distinctive taste with plenty of fruity hops, and is full flavoured with a dry and refreshing bitterness.

Hazy ambr with a thick creamy head that remained after the beer was finished. Very citrus aroma, with a sharp bite from the hops.

500ml bottle. This started well and then I got bored of it. Chestnut beer with thin beige head. Nice fruit/yeasty aroma. Bit of empty boiled sweet flavour in mouth. Raspberry fruit and caramel flavours are nice. But then it’s empty, filtered and pasteurised and lacking any depth.

I wanted to like this beer just because of Monty Python, but I found it a bit weak.Tasted like it was cut with water.Had a decent head.aroma typical, color medium amber.Tasted like it had some body to it before it was watered down to make it go longer, thus make more money. It had a bitter after taste. It wanted to be good, but fell short by it being somewhat whimpy,so i will have to try again.6/07:rerated:average head and aroma.color was nice orange brown.Looked good. The taste was kind of caramel with barley.somewhat bitter finish.seems to be well balanced, but nothing fantastic.Much better than your mass produced beers, but not up to par with the good micro-brews.This would be a good transitional beer for beginners of micro brews to drink.Definitly a conversation piece at parties. Will it get you chicks??probably not,but maybe you could use it to start up a conversation, then get the chick with your silver tongue talk.

First off, how do you not buy this when it shows up on the shelves?? Nice hoppy aroma. The body is clean deep bronze, with a full suds head. the head fades slowly. Light body, not very hoppy, the bitterness is rather week. The finish is clean. It is OK.

[Bottled at East End Brewery, Quarry Bay, Hong Kong] Amber coloured, small fluffy head. Sweetish with evident carmelly malt and some hay-like hops. Fairly light bodied with soft mouthfeel and careful salty bitterness. Not as mad as you might think...

Interesting.... not bad... pours copper into the glass with a bare head. A basic light caramel nose. A caramel-hop flavor is predominate, with a sharp, citrus twang to cap the pull. It lacks complexity, but certainly has the characteristics of an ESB. Follows suit with a lingering bitter finish. A bit unilateral for my tastes, relying on singular bitters for the primary effect, but much better than any macro. A decent combination of sweet malt, toffee, citrus and bitterness to this style makes for a decent brew, nonetheless.

Not a bad beer at all. Fairly cheep, but this is one of the better british beers that I like. Very light and fruity, with just enough of a subtle bitterness
