Commercial Description:
Bottled - pasteurised.
Another fine addition to the Black Sheep Brewery range of premium bottled ales, our Holy Grail Bitter was specially commissioned to commemorate the 30th anniversary of Monty Python. It has a distinctive taste with plenty of fruity hops, and is full flavoured with a dry and refreshing bitterness.

First rating was 10, 4, 8,4,17. Smells like caramel, very nice. Interesting beer. Malty for sure but not bad. A little hops at the end. A nice beer, but one at a time. Second rating is 5,2,3,1,7. Either my first bottle was amazingliy good or this was really bad. Too much malts and a funky flavor.

From a 1pt.9oz. hop embossed narrow neck brown bottle with no bottled/freshness. Made a good appearance, poured a hazy copper with a large fluffy, rocky white that slowly settled into a thin creamy lacing, good carbonation. Had a sweet caramel malt and grassy earthy hops nose with some herbal and citric aromas in the background. A smooth, slick medium bodied mouth feel, good drinkability. Tart fruity with caramelized sugar, lemony, earthy and herbal hoppiness, mild and rolling in it’s bitterness, a butteriness shows up in the middle, and a sweet grainy finish. A decent English Pale Ale, quite enjoyable, like getting hit over the head by a dead chicken from a armored knight.

Clear light amber hue. Bread and grains for the malt. Lots of sour apple in the aroma and flavor. Moderately sweet, moderately acidic (sour), lightly bitter flavor. Finish is Lightly sweet, moderately acidic, lightly bitter. Medium bodied, watery texture, lively carbonation. Almost tastes like...a cider.

Bottle. pours hazy amber with an off-white head. Aroma of citrus, fruit, and hops. Flavor is citrus, fruit, sweet with a bitter dry hoppy finish. Good body, ok brew.

Pours a hazy amber with a soapy white head. Aroma is fruity and hoppy. Not overpowering, but definitely present. A bit too carbonated. However, this beer is dy on the palate. Taste is weak, but hoppy. No evidence of fruit in the taste. First beer I’ve ever had that was "tempered over burning witches."

16.9 oz bottle - Pours cloudy amber with a medium sized, rapidly fading head. The aroma is light and smells mostly of malts with a touch of yeast and hops. The taste is dry and malty with a lightly bitter finish. The mouthfeel is quite thin. Overall this would be an okay session beer, but it’s not too impressive. The price was too high given the decidedly average quality.

I found this at World Market just outside of Green Bay. This was a great tasting ale. It had a nice hoppy nose to it and a nice bitter taste. I would buy this again anyday of the week, not to mention it’s named after a great movie.

Cloudy golden body with a white head that diminishes quickly. Malts, yeaste and very light fruits make up the aroma. Very tink taste and body. Light hops, somewhat watery taste. Bland ending, nothing outstanding.
