Commercial Description:
Bottled - pasteurised.
Another fine addition to the Black Sheep Brewery range of premium bottled ales, our Holy Grail Bitter was specially commissioned to commemorate the 30th anniversary of Monty Python. It has a distinctive taste with plenty of fruity hops, and is full flavoured with a dry and refreshing bitterness.

A light golden brown beer, a thick white head and very effevescent. A malty nose with hints of sweetness and caramel. A dry bitter hoppiness lingers long in the flavour with hints of sweetness again.

Well, a very funny idea. If only the beer was as good as Monty Python. Boring aroma, an okay taste, but the beer works best on the shelf with the rest of the beer collection..

The bottle poured a slightly hazy amber beverage with a smooth, creamy white head that was mostly lasting and that left nice lacing on the rim of the glass. The aromas were a bit complex with the first impressions being of slightly sour citris fruitiness (if that makes any sense). Lurking in the background there are notes of grass or hay. The body was medium to light with lively carbonation and the texture was a bit watery. The initial flavor is moderately bitter which fades rather quickly. The finish is a bit short and slightly astringent.

Bottle. Amber color, frothy head. Dry and bitter. Not ultra exiting, but relaxing. Expensive for the quality.

$3.49 at Bottleworks. I’ll admit I bought this just for the name....not bad though. Golden color, good head. Found it to be fairly bitter with not much hop presence. OK, but would not recommend for the price.
