Slightly sweet taste, but still delicious. Nice head and a nice dark amber color. I find it to be even better just because it is monty python, probably the best english comedy ever made. I highly suggest it. Phatz (225), Paradise, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 2, 2006 This is a decent English Pale Ale that is good easy drinking but far from exciting. It is a very clever label on a cool uniquely shaped bottle. Certainly presentation and marketing are part of selling beer and they score points in that department. BTW: Terry Gilliam rocks!
Appearance: Pours a light golden grail colored ail (ale) =)
Smell: Not much here but a hint pale malts and musty English hops.
Taste: Pale malts and gently English hops make this a straight forward quaffable ale that is simple and easy drinking.
Mouthfeel: Light and crisp
Drinkability: Easy drinking beer made more for drinking than for thinking. Very sessionable.
Hope this is helpful.
Cheers! mgermani (867), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada

Very interesting taste - starts out sweet, but then bitters and dries out nicely. There’s that ferric (blood, iron) taste again that seems to pop up from time to time in certain beers (La Maudite) but I suspect this is either a storage method or something in the hops I’m tasting. The hops are really well balanced against the malt. Great carbonation, body is light and almost creamy (although it could be that fantastic head meddling with the mouthfeel!) Nice beer. What is that iron I’m tasting? No matter, this is a real beer, and an excellent example of a bitter. mrdeath5493 (108), Arkansas, USA

A nice mix of sweet malt and subtle hops. Complexity is above average definitely. Medium body, creamy, and smooth. Very enjoyable ESB. exadore (92), Sacramento, California, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 7, 2008 50cl bottle from ICA. It poured a slightly pale yellow colour with a big white creamy head that settled down slowly in the glass. The aroma smells of hops, pears and a hint of citrus fruits. The flavour is bitter and tastes of malts, and citrus fruits. It has a medium long aftertaste. At first I thought this was just another gimmick beer, but I was pleasantly suprised by both the aroma and the flavour. vtafro (494), , New Jersey, USA

I feel like i may be swayed by how great the movie is, or i wasn’t expecting much from a gimmick beer but i enjoyed this beer. Good flavor, not much in the sense of aroma, i would call this a solid beer. Ni! sound67 (215), Offenbach, Germany
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Oct 20, 2009 50cl dark brown bottle, as pictured. Pours a clear amber with medium, soapy off-white head with decent lacing. Malty (but not quite bready) aroma also suggests floral and fruit notes, with hops in the background. Rather nice. Medium carbonation, slightly grainy mouth feel. Medium bodied English ale. Flavor is agreeably fruity and malty, more so than that of the same brewery’s flagship "Black Sheep Ale". Bitter, dry hoppy finish and lingering medium-bitter aftertaste. Because of the hokey name/marketing, I hesitated before I finally ordered some bottles, but I’m pleasantly surprised. Good, sound middle-of-the-road esb, Well balanced fruity, malty and hoppy notes - this would be a highly sessionable beer, and not just during screenings of Monty Python movies.
